That's pretty much it, especially when you read the later replies to his tweet, which basically amount to "This isn't funny and just Vince's middle finger to Memphis and SMW and the wrestlers in this skit are defecating on the graves of those that came before them"

Personal aside: my brother and I grew up watching wrestling during the 1980s and saw the rise of the WWF along with the decline of the territories. This was prior to the Internet, so we only really got to watch WWF and NWA/WCW on a regular basis, but we'd also read the Apter mags and there was a station out of Chicago that showed WCCW on weekends as well as a program that was sort of a "clip show" of matches out of various territories (Mid-South/UWF, Puerto Rico, and so forth). So SRW really hits the nostalgia button for me, as I fondly remember seeing stuff exactly like this when I was a kid. :unsmith:

(we also like to make up various scrawny rednecks and pudgy hillbillies in WWE 2k16 and put them in our own made-up fed, which is not all that dissimilar to something like SRW. I even do a pretty good Solie impersonation when we run CPU-controlled matches. I need to work on my Lance Catamaran impression though)

Jim Cornette can be really funny sometimes but he's the biggest dork in the world when it comes to comedy in wrestling. At least he's not screeching on Twitter about it aside from that one comment.

He should be flattered, quite frankly, because CWA and SMW had way goofier promos and gimmicks.

They mentioned the year right at the start. It's pretty obvious in hindsight, leap years never happen on years ending on odd numbers.

Olive drab colour ensures the genocider will remain hidden from his prey until it's too late for them to do anything.

The first video says it from 1987, though it isn't until video 4 that they list the date out in full you realize they are building to 1987 instead of 1988.

Do you think in 30 years, if we're all still alive and pro wrestling still exists, that some wrestlers will get together and do a parody of TNA?

If TNA dies, the first thing that will happen is a bunch of people will get together a form a new TNA. It'll be called something stupid like Total Intense Tapouts.

TNA already is essentially a bastardized relaunch of the dying days of WCW, who knows what the dying days of TNA will look like, or what it will look like in miniature when relaunched. Shooting for the glory days Aces and eights. A&E2.0? The Big Name Brigade? The Journal? THEY? WCW died so hard that a new promotion had to be formed to keep dying in their image.

it's most directly a rip off of a kevin sullivan thing. somewhere on the network, i think the legends roundtable, i think it's michale p.s. hayes who praises the segment as being awesome and they play a clip of it and it's complete with shaky camera, bad sound, and awkward screaming.
