I like Danny's videos because it's not just him and a crew dancing with lean, blunts and guns on rented high end cars/high end cars their manager owns that they are letting them use for their video.

I really had no idea that people thought of Danny as funny. Maybe you chuckle at a one-liner, but when taken in the context of the entire album most of his stuff comes off as depressing or a PSA about his lifestyle.

Yeah he has tons of punchlines that are unrelated to drug abuse and anxiety. Also he raps in a funny voice and if you're not paying attention it often seems like party music (see all of Old's second half). Atrocity Exhibition is the first time the music has matched up with how hosed his lyrics really are.

Danny can be genuinely funny (especially with certain one liners) but for the most part I view a lot of the 'funny' stories in his songs as a sort of absurdist humour (even if it's not meant to be humour) where the only alternative to laughing would be crying. I'm not surprised he was hanging out with Dave Chappelle. They've both had to deal with the same thing coming from different sides of it.

Also he jokes a lot on features. My first exposure to him was him shouting "that bitch pussy smells like a peng'in!" on an ASAP Rocky posse cut. "30" is probably the best example of both sides of the coin. It has one of the funniest opening lines I've ever heard but quickly becomes a meditation on anxiety. And the beat is super discomforting.
