Bloody Hedgehog posted:In fairness to McDonald's, it's because they don't want you actually coming inside the restaurant. They already do 75% of their business through the drive-thru, and they'd be quite happy to increase that to 100%, and completely eliminate the inside service. They'd do well to have smaller buildings that take the Dutch Bros. model. Or one side for drive thru and the other for walk-ups.

I have such a bad hunger for junk food right now Used to eat "family size" pizzas at least once a week, but being frugal has done a number on me... I just want that lovely lovely grease/salt inferno in my mouth please respect that and post images of grease/salt/mouths

zedprime posted:Heatlamps were old like 25 years ago. When I did my time as teenage fast food labor, McDonalds had just finished perfecting the made to order (but not really) system. Everything was assembled assembly line style. To keep the meat on the assembly line after it was cooked, there was like a meat cupboard with a bunch of drawers that slid out of a warming oven and each drawer had a different sort of meat. So like a quarter pounder drawer, a Big Mac patty drawer, drawers of nuggets. Instead of a heatlamp, the tray where food was kept after it was made had a forced air heater that kept the tray hot as gently caress, like you could cook underdone poo poo in that thing. I know what you're talking about and I missed those when I worked at Wendy's, because their system was terrible in comparison. Man, now I want terrible burgers too.

Deep fried pie was a glorious crunchy treat. The limp 'baked' crap they sell now is terrible. The 90s ruined everything!

From the shapes of them they kinda look like chicken wings? But the weird colors and that layer of salt almost makes them look like salted herring, skin & all. The yellow sauce (curry?) and the red oily chili basin though, gonna go with actual non-fastfood chicken nuggets? Also I just ate a homemade ham on danish rye, really helped a lot

I don't know why McD's wasted however many millions creating these things. They just slow down the ordering process. They should've created an ordering app for phones, lets you create your order whenever/wherever you want, and then submit it and pick it up at the preferred time. Boom, simple

Boom, simple Do you guys have Create Your Taste there? Custom burgers with all sorts of poo poo, like brie, and truffles, bacon slices, fancy cheeses and sauces etc etc. McDonalds wanted to compete with the gourmet burger market here in Aus and seem to be doing well. Those machines are a central part of it because they let you take your time and select the burger you want.

The problem with McD's is you go there if you have 5 bucks or 5 minutes, and Create Your Taste is neither of those. For how long it takes, and how much it is, I'd rather spend the extra 1$ and go to Five Guys. And you *have* to use the machines to order it - they won't let you order at the till or drive-thru.

Back when McDonald's first launched the "tax time" burger and cheese burger deal when they were 10 or 15 cents a piece and a twenty burger limit on both, my friends and I all went in at once and got about 200 burgers total. Then we had a competition to see who could eat the most and I put away 12 of those bad boys. My other friend won with 22 though...
