Marie Locke is my favorite pilot

not only is her design cool as gently caress, but her difficulty curve sits in my comfort zone. she's my goto for testing out new loadouts, and my main for general dicking around. Though I have started to outgrow her difficulty and have been slightly upping it in the data editor as of late. I always have her sick facepaint and wry grin staring back at me and have grown attached. Like familiar neural feedback in a moody mog suit.

she is, as they say in the ADTRWs, "mai waifu". :anime:
All of your other waifus (e.g. ancestor jimmy, johnny poker-cheater, modesto "straight out of Terra Portuária" pires, etc.) are a poo poo and I will be happy to debate you on this :colbert:

for some reason i like to use particular pilots when i use particular vehicles or loadouts, usually to match what their bio says they piloted or whatever feels right according to the biography, like using scottie graf whenever i want to take the tinker out for a spin, and i always use marie locke when i roll out the buckmaster. her biography makes her sound like she has to be some kind of special forces operative and it just feels right for her to be piloting a high tech, high firepower hit and run/stealth specialist vehicle

e: oh right she pilots the buckmaster in the campaign

does she really paint her face like a corvid though? i suspect CC's talking poo poo because none of the other corvids use death's-head or third-eye iconography, and it's entirely the wrong colours!

i want to say she's Eixo. painting her face in colours that only older high-ups in the NEP would recognise...?

Yeah, Solo Nobre looks like even more of a shithole during the day. Really the SNC is doing them a favor by going at them at night, gives'em a chance to put their best face forward for the oppressive jackboot of corporate-funded tyranny.

all jokes aside, Dave is actually very playable after some tweaks. I upped the movespeed to 7(?) and changed his firing arcs to 180 degrees.

I also added a smoke projector under small weapons. Used in conjunction with a bonesaw and active camo as a special, I managed to almost kill half the garrison objective before I got too cocky and was subsequently taken out by an infantryman's mortar. Further testing is required, but it's one of the more fun and surprisingly viable joke vehicles and is oddly satisfying.

Anyone able to make good use of the Scimitar? I like the aesthetics of the weapon and in theory it should be able to saturate an area with its burst of mortar fire, but I've never been able to aim the thing worth a drat. It doesn't have the splash of other mortars, which exposes my inept accuracy with indirect fire weapons.

Vanilla Buckmaster in Shitstorm Mode is good fun, if hard as balls. Makes each victory extremely satisfying. Gotta upload the other three parts later today, but the most intense was definitely the first (Waste Outflow Watershed, so yeah).

Is there any chance at some point we get the idk like non ingame models? Too look at and whatnot. Like how I was saying about AoE AoK did in the books where the units in book were all the render thing and then you see in game like ahhh! Pixels! Cool!

I'm maybe drunk but please someone know what I mean like in the Rise of Rome AoE xpac the book you got with game had like the "good renders" of certain units for spotlight.

I want to see all the cook tiny bits on the vehicles in Brigador. Like how detailed the hood ornaments are and then they render at 2pix! I love it!

Hey Anthony, if you are still thinking about the Crambo range indicator problem, maybe try just setting its Explosion Delay higher? I set it to 0.8, same as the 88, and it effectively gives the Crambo full-screen range like the indicator suggests, but it definitely is not any more effective at long range.

I think the 88 / Parliament is basically the same, i.e. full-screen range indicator but best range is much shorter, and that is disclaimed by the text and quickly discovered ingame.

I really like the new Crambo, even though it's not that much different. I think the best part is the visual change for the projectiles -- looks a lot better with bullet tracers than glowing tiny cannon shell orbs. But I can definitely see how the extremely short range would throw people for a loop, especially since it's the only gun like that.

Boosting the range isn't always a blessing, either -- I've accidentally hit enemy Fafnir spotters and the like without even knowing they were just off-screen, and thus triggered the alarm, so the incentive to fire at short range is definitely there regardless.

[Edit] P.S. - Archer's Rounder from the campaign is a beast with the improved Crambo, holy poo poo. It's like an alternative take on the Buckmaster with a lot more short-range firepower.

that's an artifact of how we don't have true shadows-- since we only have the front facing depth information for objects in the game world, we compute shadows by just projecting that known area further into space. Which means that at certain angles you get these super weird shadow repetitions.

Nothing we can do about that short of having true 3d information,.

You're right in that the Parliament and Crambo are too similar currently, especially for being in the same mount class. I don't want to extend the range of the Crambo for very specific reasons: the early projectile termination means you can properly control sound propagation, and also means that stupid people don't try to use it long range. Which they did.

Parliament itself is part of my 2nd pass on guns, basically the rest of the shotguns: Parliament, Broiler, 88 (among other things).

I'll have more for you later this week after I'm done with taxes.
