Star Citizen is a space trading and combat simulation video game developed by Cloud Imperium Games and published by Amazon Game Studios. It is a spiritual sequel to Wing Commander, a combat flight simulator released in 1990. The game was initially announced by Chris Roberts in 2013, and following many production schedule mishaps and a buyout of CIG by Amazon, it was eventually released in March 2023.

In the game, players take on the roles of spacecraft pilots. These characters fly single-seater ships, exploring the planets and space stations of 7 known star systems. They also engage in dogfights with other pilots (player- and computer-controlled) to protect traders or engage in piracy themselves. Other player activities include bounty-hunting and commodity trading. The single-player mode puts the player in the role of Johnny Bland, who goes through a series of missions to save the Sirius sector from a mysterious alien force. In multiplayer mode, players are free to take on any role and to explore anywhere from the start.

Originally, Roberts promised features such as automated flight maneuvers, dynamic economies, and a multiplayer mode that could host thousands of players, but diminished versions of these features were implemented in the final release. The game's initial technical demos impressed reviewers, but after the Amazon buyout and Roberts' departure from CIG, critics had doubts about the game. Reviewers judged the final product technically good but failing to fulfill their initial expectations.

Concern about how backer funds are being spent by a very public head of a company is not being weird. It's not like we are trying to figure out what shoes or new belt she is buying. I think what she is doing professionally in another role when she is seriously behind schedule on a major community funded project is totally fair game.

I dunno when she comes in rocking a $5k purse and chris is flashing his $15k watch around I don't mind pointing out that poo poo

I thought about it but never refunded. I was disappointed by 2.0 release and have not touched SC since trying out 2.4. I've been enjoying the redesigned ATV show, where they rotate through the studios and have one give a presentation of their work over the last month. I watch that every week and hope for the game to continue to make regular improvements, but the things I want to do are not in. I'll give it another go at 3.0.

Games I've played since SC 2.0:
Night in the Woods - Great
Snake Pass - Okay
Mass Effect: Andromeda - Meh
Rain World - Dark Souls the side-scroller
GTA 5 - Had a lot of fun in MP with this
Dragon Age: Inquisition - Pretty okay
Dishonored 2 - Great
Mad Max - Meh
Else Heart.Break() - Amazing, everyone should play this
For Honor - Meh
Hacknet - Fun
Owlboy - Great
Oxenfree - Great
Seasons after fall - Cute

And lots of books, though I'm reading less now due to work.

Italy loves star citizen so much they gave him a yacht to sail around the islands in.

The Monaco Grand Prix loves star citizen so much they gave them free tickets and airfare.

Maui loves star citizen so much it gave them free month long vacations and airfare.

All the airlines love them so much they've given them dozens of international first class flights.

The imaginarium believes in the dream so much they've given years of shooting time for free.

The A-list actors want to be in the verse so bad they donated their time.

The makers of Porsche saved their company by giving Chris a $150,000 limited edition for free to get more exposure from the titanic juggernaught that is Cloud Imperium Games.

The stanley door company wants to play 3.0 so bad they donated a $20,000 door

Restoration Hardware needs the dream to be real so bad they donated $4,000 couches, $1300 chairs, $1000 lamps and $3000 cafeteria tables.

The coffee machine company is doing it's part with a free training class for a gift of a $13,000 coffee maker at no cost, which a barista operates for free all the time

Surely the maker of a really bad 1990s series of games and the stupidest movie ever put on film had millions of dollars at his disposal.

He actually might have had some money if he was scamming people with the german tax credits for making movies like that hack Uwe Boll. I just don't see how backers would think he spent any of his own money on poo poo like $70,000 for cafeteria chairs when they are stupid enough to throw $146,000,000 at him with nothing but a promise.

Hey, since we do food stuff in here from time to time, I have a question.

I'm looking for an electric slow cooker/pressure cooker thing. I've poked around a bit, and this "Instant Pot" seems like the way to go, if popularity is any indication. My only slight reservation is that the pressure cooking functionality is ~11psi, as opposed to the common high setting of ~15psi for classic stove top style pressure cookers. That's not a huge deal to me, as I'd be primarily buying it as a slow cooker, plus it's also a rice cooker, steam cooker, yogurt maker (jeez), and some other poo poo, but the pressure part would be appreciated.

Anyone have any experience?

Pro tip: Whenever you buy a desk, make sure you choose a manufacturer that can provide you with desks that have rivets all over their surface so it's impossible to use them as a surface for writing on a piece of paper.
