I think the YDS chapter of UO has a good reputation, though I don't remember any examples of their work that comes close to Anchorage.

someone at the march for science asked to take a picture of me and my red flag. He seemed pretty stoked to see it and told his friends what it meant as we went our separate ways. Thanks for the support, rando comrade :iamafag:

We actually had someone from France who stopped by and said they hadn't seen the Socialism symbol is such a long time and that she was super happy to see it and happy to see it in the US.

I can sympathize with that. There are a lot of people who jump in with all kinds of ideas and enthusiasm initially but when it comes time to dig in and get to work 80% of them vanish. It took things not getting done for a really nice core group to commit and start helping out on a regular basis. My optimism still fluctuates between "gently caress it all, I give up" and "gently caress yeah, we're really doing poo poo". The last meeting I went to every single person contributed and then signed up for a task afterward. We've got some good things going on and I think people who aren't putting their supposed beliefs into practice will slowly start to drift off. You're definitely not alone.

Don't give up. If it's not coming together, don't just assume it's a general "lack of interest" either - I know lots of people doing lots of stuff, and I often have enthusiastic people drop out not just because they aren't interested but because they've decided another org or movement is the best use of their time. If you can't pull together the socialists to make a difference as a DSA chapter, find out where the ones who actually get things done are going and follow them. I've sort of put my local chapter organizing on hold because I've realized that even though there's a bunch of DSA members around, most of them already have their plates full working with ORMA, Progressive Massive, the Progressive Democratic Alliance, SURJ, and several other activist groups. And then I think to myself - what would this DSA chapter offer them? How would it help them accomplish things? Would it be worth the labour I'd be asking of them in return? And I have to be honest, I'm not sure it is! So instead I've followed them, and I'm making sure the DSA is seeing our point of view pushed in ORMA, and I've got some people standing by me, and it's good.
