Would love to know where this person is from assuming he's American. I've never heard anyone under 60 pronounce a Polish name correctly and I live in a city full of them.

Railing Kill posted:See, this is why I gently caress up everyone's names evenly at the start of a semester. I even tell the students before the first roll call, "I am going to butcher some names here, so I apologize in advance for what is about to happen." I had a teacher who hosed up the name Kelley, he said "Keel-Lee". It all makes sense now.

The principal hosed up my ex's name during our high school graduation. Her name is Susan. (He pronounced it Suzanne)

What I'm getting from this is that teachers should intentionally get all names wrong so the weird kids don't feel so slighted by it.

Having a name that's not pronounced correctly is the worst. My name ends in -ey, but is supposed to be pronounced like -y. I've basically given up correcting anyone. My wife kept her maiden name because of this.

My brother-in-law is a pharmacist, and I asked him about this because I see pill bottles with incoherent instructions all the time. He said it has to do with the system they use auto-printing labels that are translated by a speak-to-text program they use. He even confirms it's a pain in the rear end to go back and correct everything. His take? Lots of lazy pharmacists who don't double check the prescription bottles they're giving people.
