Here's my codeine conversion:

Typical AC cough syrup has 10mg of codeine in a dose, which converts to about 2mg morphine sulf. Cough syrup doses may make you drowsy but not totally messed up. A typical starting dose of morphine for pain is about 15mg (though it's rarely used as a first option so people tend to be a bit tolerant by then). The pain doses the first time usually make people a bit messed up where they may not be able to hold a regular conversation.

So that syrup above has 1/8 grain of morphine sulf, which is 8mg, in an OUNCE. Careful observers will notice at the bottom that you take half a teaspoon which is 1/6 of an ounce. So your dose would actually be ~1.3mg of morphine, which is similar though less than a conversion of today's codeine cough syrups.

The alcohol would basically be negligible, like in today's cough syrups.
I have no idea what the cannabis would convert to today, since they probably didn't have very potent plants and the extractions would likely be done with the alcohol or chloroform.
I don't even want to try and guess or look up what that chloroform would do or what a regular dose is.

This is turning into a TCC arm reduction eyeballing thread.

I'm pretty sure mixing all these substances has a different effect on your body compared to taking only one of them, though.

Don't forget that opioid tolerance is a lifetime thing. You build a tolerance years ago to codeine via t3s, the codeine you take now will effectively be weaker.

Protip: avoid opioids unless you are in such pain nothing else takes the edge off so when you really need it later in life it will work right.

Well yeah, that's my point. Cyanide always gets described as tasting like almonds and it's a completely useless description. Cyanide tastes nothing like sweet almonds and it only tastes like bitter almonds because they have cyanide in them. Which is still useless because nobody eats bitter almonds to find out what they taste like, because of the cyanide.

True, which is why the solution to the whole 'it stops working if you get a lot of painkillers' can't be fixed simply by taking more.

Also as a side note, re: Cyanide

Less than 40% of the population can actually taste or smell cyanide, as it's a sex-linked recessive trait. Interestingly enough, people who smoke who also carry the trait seem to be able to detect it at lower levels, possibly due to smoking and cyanide being a byproduct.

Sorry for dragging this on further, but I thought morphine was ok to just up the dose as long as you're in pain? Like, a dose that'd kill a dude dead and lightsout their breathing reflex might just be a good start on chilling out a burn victim? So sure if your dumb rehabilitated junkie rear end gets dipped in acid or something at some point you just get the family size keg of chill pills and you're fine? No?

My source was the doc who taught the class back when I was going to school to be a medical assistant, so not documented. A quick google of my own provided some nuance, specifically that your tolerance does eventually go back down, but not to the same levels it was before you built it.

Mentions the long term nature of tolerance to opiods, saying weeks or months:
https://energycontrol-international.org/tolerance-to-opiates/

More in depth discussion, didn't read the whole thing:
http://www.instituteforchronicpain.org/treating-common-pain/tolerance-to-opioid-pain-medications

Addicts discussing the phenomenon, not the most scientific of sources, maybe :nws: :
http://www.bluelight.org/vb/threads/742749-Why-does-opiate-tolerance-never-completely-disappear

Final verdict: It doesn't stay the way I understood, but if you stop and start again it comes back REAL fast

Nice reminder that Bayer was a subsidy of IG Farben, the German company that made all the gas for concentration camps in WW2. I believe they split off and really ran hard to remove the association after the war.

Yes, Bayer was part of IG Farben, but the subsidiary that made Zyklon B was Degesch.
Fun fact #1: They're still around.
Fun fact #2: Zyklon B was produced and sold as recently as 2001 (under the name "Cyanosil").
Fun fact #3: IG Farben itself was not liquidated until 2012.
