I'm pretty sure one of the first doors inside the tower is an elevator back to the very entrance.

Palace 1 is definitely the worst about that. That archangel (?), is a huge pain if you don't ambush it, and even then I needed to put him to sleep. Further on surprise wipes by damage alone weren't really a thing unless I got really unlucky with crits or weaknesses, and if you max a lot of party ranks you'll get plenty of safety measures.

Re: PREY talk. What KILLS me in lots of AAA console games is the way they use the screen space to display in-game text. So in stuff like the Witcher 3 and Prey, if you pick up a book, it displays the text in a tiny cropped box in the centre of the screen. On a 27" HD screen from five or six feet this can be fairly difficult to read. It'd be great if they just spread the text across the entire screen and made the fonts bigger!

No way. One of the great and noticeable things about this generation is that nobody does giant text on the screen like that anymore because it's a better experience for 99% of people. If you're playing six feet away from a 27 inch screen that's on you.

Just seen a report over the "Western Developers/Japanese developers" discussion that took place in here recently.

It was a bad discussion and not to mention badly handled. Please can we not go over that sort of topic again. It is racist to delineate all of the games not made in the west as either 'Japanese' or 'tits and rear end cartoons'. There are many games developers and creating that sort of rift is ridiculous when you could say that Paradox the developer is completely different to EA Sports.

It's even more ridiculous when one of the greatest games ever made is Super Mario Brothers 3, a perfect platformer yet to be bested and is Japanese.

Please do not bring begin that topic of discussion again.

One of the first Palaces had some random bullshit encounter that did a two-hit attack on Protagonist, which critted and dazed him, and then on its One More or whatever it turned right around and did the same goddamn thing and killed him. It was real cool and a fun reminder of what SMT is all about.

Actually that incident got me thinking about picking up SMT IV again once I'm done with P5, too.

You're given a $60 million to spend on producing The Zybourne Clock on the stipulation that you have to hire either Idea Factory or PopCap to create it, which do you choose and why?

Popcap because I would make the game a fusion of Peggle and Zuma's revenge.

There's a system-wide button combo (PS button + Square I think) that lets you zoom in on the screen, it's helpful for stuff like this.

This happened to me except it was because the attack that was supposed to knock it down missed, and then it attacked twice in a row with no crit/knockdown that should have given it a second attack. Instant loss. Really loving out of place with everything else in the dungeon. I'm just at the fourth dungeon now but still haven't died or seen anything that bullshit since, so if you're on normal you at least don't have to worry about that being a really regular thing in the near future. Do go back to save rooms frequently though.

Sometimes I wonder what if Idea Factory got something like FFXV's budget and how they would manage to squander it or gently caress it up. Then again they already stretch tiny budgets across entire decades.

Trick question, you put up a kickstarter asking for an ADDITIONAL 60 million for the game, promising whatever you think people might want then spend the next decade pretending to be working on the game before disappearing with the money.

FF15 has got to be the most patched non-multiplayer console game ever. I just saw the other day that they added yet another Pro operating mode, for "stability", though I am unclear how that differs from the "light" option.

There was nobway to play the game without horrible frame pacing on pro so they probably fixed that somehow

With the "stability" mode the game basically runs like it did before they made the light option run at 60 frames per second (ie become nearly unplayable). Stability is definitely the one to use IMHO.
They also added some new tunes to the MP3 player, and introduced time quests with scoreboards, that you can do to unlock some new items.

Pretty much every other dev that tried a similar style of game to his made a much better game than he could ever manage to produce.
