This is so anybody with any of those locks can open the whole thing. While not sharing keys. Its standard to access back roads, so you can have all the locks you use keyed to one key for your convenience, and everybody can do that when they don't share all the same access. The ghetto version is to daisy chain locks chain-lock-lock-lock...lock-chain.

The picture probably belongs in the badass thread rather than here, given it's a very elegant solution for 6 people carried out entirely with an angle grinder and a cutting torch.

The dude went from "Huh, I don't feel well" to flatlining on an operating table in ER about an hour later thanks to  Fournier Gangrene, which is necrotizing fasciitis in the genitals area which develops extremely rapidly. He lost some of his penis and his entire scrotum and had to get his testicles 'banked' in his legs until the microsurgeons could build him a new scrotum. tl;dr: penis gangrene is unpleasant
