Roxxxy Andrews has style, though. Like she was bland everywhere else but served on the runway every week. Alexis does remind me of her in a weird way, to be fair. Just replace 'has style' with 'can act'. She isn't nearly as bitchy, either, or trying to play mind games from what I can tell. Most of her edit is less 'villain' and more 'that bossy girl from theatre class.

Alexis is Rachel Berry.

To me, Aja's makeup usually looks not just rough, but dated. Like, she wouldn't look out of place in the background of Paris is Burning.

True story: Before I moved to NY from MN, my (then girlfriend and now) wife and I were talking about TV shows we watch. She mentioned this and I said I would sit on the couch and read a book or something while she watched - same thing for Empire. That was the season of Bianca and I was hooked. This weekend I was trying to explain to her the outtake video of Nina and Aja and the Clown White makeup and when I was done she was laughing at me for saying things like "She really came for her" and so on. So yeah...this skit loving nailed it :)

I still don't watch Empire though.

Aja always overdraws her top lip and I don't get it. Looking at the normal outline, she has a really nice top lip. Comes to a good point and everything. But no, she's obsessed with the kool-aid stain lips.

My issue with her overdrawn lips is it's all one shade. Like, girl use a liner or something to blend it better. Stare at Raven for a couple hours and figure it out.

I haven't looked at many of her pictures since the show has ended, though. She's improved a lot since then so I'd imagine (and hope) the lips are better, too.

:3: that's awesome.

I have a question that's probably dumb and naive. Is there like a group of vocal assholes screaming about this show being the death if society or whatever?

Usually the Million Mom type whackjobs start screeching the second there's anything even remotely gay on mainstream television, but it seems like there hasn't been a huge backlash to drag race, even with the move to VH1 and a probably more mainstream audience.

Especially after the SNL skit, it seems like general consensus on the show is positive to neutral if anything. I guess they're probably out there. Have people just accepted it/don't know about it? Maybe I'm just sheltered from that stuff by my social media algorithms or something. I really just haven't seen anything aimed at drag race in the same magnitude as the unhinged response people had to the six second wet fart of a SPECIAL GAY MOMENT in Beauty and the Beast. The main criticisms of the show I've seen are from the trans community and from actual drag queens.

In my experience the majority of people screaming about how RuPaul is transphobic and therefore the show is Hitler are not actual trans people, but cis people who consider themselves "trans allies". That's not to say there aren't trans people pissed about usage of "tranny" in drag slang, the "shemail" thing, etc. but they aren't generally the most extreme critics of the show itself.

Yeah, the biggest stink made about that came from Carmen Carrera, and the badly named Female or Shemale mini in like season six or seven.

I don't mind Ru and the producers listening and easing up on use of tranny and shemale in general as the times change, but sweet christ do I miss the 'ooh gurl, you've got she-mail!'.

As for Peppermint, her performance in the LSFYL was a lot of fun but I hope that she has a second gear if/when she had to LSFYL again. So many queens burn up all of their tricks during their first battle then there's nothing new to show off... Detox and Katya spring to mind. Peppermint could have a second performance in her that's completely different, or at least I hope so.
