Instead of complaining that other people are posting about their teams, why not post about yours? My team made an actual Deadline Day Signing to pick up a backup striker from the A-League (of all places), so maybe Montero can rest once in a while without leaving us stuck with Erik Hurtado of all people.
Not really sure why that's an 'of all places', Ibini's a good lad. When he's in form he's insanely good, when he's not it can be... really frustrating. He's really fast, really strong, but his decision-making and finishing are pretty patchy.

Main issue is he snapped a leg in 15/16 after signing for Brugge (a signing which was probably made more to unsuccessfully keep former teammate Mat Ryan at the club than for his abilities as a forward), and his new club weren't terribly interested in actually rehabilitating the injury. Apparently he still could only barely loving walk at the end of the season. This season we signed him on loan probably in theory to be a starting winger, but we sort of ran away with the league with a starting XI that almost never changed, so he was mostly the 'bring him on at the hour mark' impact substitute.

He's supposedly injured for like ten weeks now, though.

anyway yeah effort-posts i guess

It's not about Ibini's quality, it's about the A-League's quality.

Honestly, thanks for this. I'm not throwing shade at the A-League (as you say that would be a very glass-houses thing to do), it's mostly just a surprise, I can't think of anyone else who's come here from the A-League besides...um, Cahill? Or was that the other way around.

He sounds like a solid rotation option (guess we'll see in the summer when he comes back?), but it's mildly funny that we got rid of Kekuta Manneh only to replace him with a guy that sounds exactly like him, but Australian.

Yeah, no worries. As far as other signings from the A-League go, I think Danny Allsopp came over for a bit? and failed, so not exactly exalted company. But that was back in the early days for both leagues, so I'd imagine a lot's changed for both since. Solid rotation option sounds about right, with a few really good and a few loving terrible matches thrown in for good measure.

The Orlando forward budget is literally Cyle Larin and whatever player is currently not relegated to the B team in USL. I guess the other players who play forward in our 4-4-2 diamond technically count as midfielders first. Though, as someone pointed out before, Cyle is very underpaid for his output.
