Futurism was an art movement where dudes were all 'CARS ARE COOL AND THE PAST IS FOR CHUMPS. LET'S DRAW SOME CARS.'
Yeah, those are legit. Welcome to the club.

I am not good at all with oil paint yet, but this didn't turn out too bad.

Little less subtle than I was hoping to get it, but I think the feel gets across.

I did a Frankenstein.

Acrylics on canvas. Not the best quality picture. I'm honestly not the happiest with how the forehead turned out, but everyone said it's good/great and I was just done fidgeting with it. It was a fun learning experience, I wish the textures would translate (I made a point to make the face rugged and rough like a monster made of flesh would be), and it conveys the sadness I was aiming for.

Any criticism/advice is welcome.

I like it! The arm and hand on the left turned out great, the face is eerily passive and spooky.

Hey! I remember you mentioning in GBS that you wanted to start drawing more. Cool painting and glad to see you've kept up!

What should I know before I buy / paint on wood panels? I use acrylics. I was just going to go to Michael's or Joanne's.

Go nuts. You can gesso if you want but you don't need to.

Use a fine grained wood—smooth surfaced birch plywood, cedar panel, or engineered boards like MDF or (smooth surfaced) Masonite. Sealing with with evenly-applied coats of gesso before you paint will prevent your surface from swelling up in inconsistent ways.

Have spent about 2 years recreating a 400 year old magic trick originally printed in Venice. I am finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel:

The front and back cover is going to be foil stamped in white.

Cacati in mano e pigliati a schiaffi!

Can't compete with that Venetian thing but I wanted to post my drawing 101 class. I had never drawn really before attending this class and I'm super happy with my end product. The rules were two pieces of paper and self-portrait. I tried to think outside the box. I'm open to criticism but please bear in mind I have just one semester of actual drawing. Besides doodles of butts.

I'm not sure if I'll be allowed to take more classes like it but it was fun and it'll let me keep drawling some.

I used charcoal, graphite, conte crayon, and chalk. Took about 8-9 hours.

Hello thread. I'm a dilettante when it comes to arts and crafts of any kind, but really dug a brief intro to linocut printmaking:

(I had Alien on the brain and no, these are definitely not original drawings)

so I think I'll dabble a bit. If anyone has tips for getting started, I'm all ears!

Anyone here do the dirty pour with acrylic paint? I've seen a million tutorials online. But does the kind of oil matter? Some pages say mineral oil is fine, others stress only using GAC800 or silicone oil.

This is to gaze into the mouth of madness.

First ever oil painting. It was a good learning exercise, gonna try to set up a shadowbox, decent lighting, and focus more on actually comparing colors/dimensions next time to see where I can get. I let this thing dry for a month and give it a final oil coat, right?

The cost to create a custom die to do a foil stamp like that is indeed madness. :eyepop:

That's a pretty amazing oil painting for a first ever attempt!
