It's more significant the worse your mileage is in the first place. If you used to get 15 mpg and now you get 17 then driving 100 miles now takes you 5.9 gallons instead of 6.7. That's pretty big. It's more apparent if you represent miles in terms of gallons per mile rather than mpg. Look at it this way: If you had a big lovely truck that only got 5mpg, you'd consider a 1-2mpg improvement a miracle.

This data only really is of any use to the EB crew (unless you GT folk are gonna go FI). I didn't take my car out all week cause it was real fuckin hot and I'd rather ride bike, but I took it out today cause I felt bad. Before I swapped out the grilles on my car the ambient to charge temp difference was always around 30 degrees. Today it was 90 out, if I was moving the most I saw the charge temps climb to was 108, if I was stopped they hit about 115. So just by opening the front grilles up I dropped my temps a good 5-10 degrees. This is on a pretty fuckin hot day, so I'm pretty happy about that. Didn't really care when it was 70 out because It was never hot enough to make a difference when I was idling in traffic.

The blue one is 10 hours away, has 60k more miles, and is only $300 cheaper than the gray one and I didn't even negotiate with him yet. Gray one is an hour and a half drive. Edit: oh yeah biggest one of all is the blue one had an off-road mid pipe, and the gray one is stock. I don't want to deal with that crap again. In NY even aftermarket cats are no good unless it's CARB compliant, and more and more inspection shops are cracking down on actually checking that stuff. Last time I checked 2 or 3 years ago there was literally one aftermarket midpipe that I could legally put on my car. Yeah the blue looks better but after the accident I don't want the added stress of driving it home and dealing with illegal exhausts.

How about we spend the $300 saved on some spray paint? Honestly I don't blame you, the blue is pretty but I wouldn't want to deal with surprise bureaucratic nonsense either. Even if the mid pipe is good for now, you don't want to be popped at some point down the road with needing a new exhaust. God blue new edges are so pretty though, the blues they used on that generation were great. Azure blue is on the short list of things to paint my comet some day.
