The April 1737 siege of Kandahar began when Nader Shah's Afsharid army invaded southern Afghanistan to topple the last Hotaki stronghold, which was held by Hussain Hotaki. It took place in the Old Kandahar area of the modern city of Kandahar in Afghanistan and lasted until March 24, 1738, when the Hotaki Afghans were defeated by the Persian army. REad more here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Kandahar and let's have a discussion, My favourite chapter of this historical episode is when In anticipation of the siege, the Afghans had stockpiled large amounts of provisions in the fortified town

I bet the whole place smelled like poop Horse poop. People poop. Runny poop. Explosive poop. Poop thrown over the walls. Poop trebuchet'd over the walls. Poop heated in hot oil and poured on Invaders, seeping through the small slits in their armor, leading to a combination of severe burns and fecal contamination along with the inevitability of getting poop in the mouth. Poop in the streets. Poop in the water. Poop on the hands of the cook cooking food in a bucket next to a ditch full of poop. Burning poop.

My favorite part is when Nader Shah smashed the poo poo out of that town and built a better one named after himself right next to it, and then brought us Consumer Reports in the modern day.

The siege tactics look sound to me. Got a lotta people on that ladder, must be well crafted. Are those little flying rocket arms actual rockets or? Either way I bet this was a very memorable siege and Kandahar is a city with a rich and diverse history! I give it a 3.5/5

I like to think that most of the sand in the Middle East is composed of grounded up bones from the millennia's worth of corpses accrued.
