So I really like Bon Iver but not in a die hard obsessive kind of way, as in his great but not one of my favorites... Should I splurge and pay $50 for pit ticket (at a giant outdoor venue, first 15 or so rows are a GA pit...) to see him?

It seems the set is kind of short and lacks much of anything beyond the new album. So I am asking if this tour performance of his is really worth that? I've never seen him if that matters.

I saw Bon Iver in 2012 and was pretty impressed given I went in as a casual fan. Perth was amazing live. I'm not sure how his new stuff would translate well though, and yeah it seems like he's just sprinkling in 4-5 tracks from his other albums so I'd youtube the new live stuff and see if its for you.

Bad girls think that you're being a boob punch

Watch this recorded concert and see if the new material performed live does anything for you:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJNi7aRwUzU

If so, then go ahead and splurge for a pit ticket. If not, then grab the cheapest/most reasonable seat you can and enjoy!

Fuckkkkkkking hell yes I'd go see that.

I've never really been a huge Bon Iver fan, but that video is seriously my poo poo.

yeah I saw them here in NYC a few years ago, they were ok, played their songs very well (especially Half Gate) but they don't really have much stage presence or do anything different with the music, they are definitely not a band i would say that you "have to see live" to get them or anything

That video was cool, but yeah, it's an hour his shows? Kinda weak for how much people are paying to see him IMO. He could throw in another 4-5 songs from his earlier work and make it really worthwhile.

Maybe I'll just go see Mac Demarco instead/ :D

I grabbed a ticket for this tour because we got a new venue open here and this is the only concert I have interest in that's playing there. I'm thankful that there will be seating, because it's not the most dynamic. But they play the songs real good and real loud. I wasn't gonna do it but Mourning Sound has me pretty pumped.

This is a very good idea. Saw him last week in Nashville and it was wonderful. He really is great working with the crowd. I'm confident if he'd been born 50 years ago he'd be a lounge singer. Also don't gently caress up like me and not bring cash for the merch stand.

And stay for the rendition of Crazy Town's Butterfly and Enter the Sandman for the encore

He is rad, and also his new album is super rad and a lot less "zany" than his previous stuff. Little Mac is growing up!

I didn't go (dumb on my end) but my friend went to see him on Monday and said he played a 2 1/2 hour set that culminated in him crowdsurfing across the venue, climbing into the balcony to bum a cigarette, then climb back down and surf back to the stage to finish. So maybe not growing up yet.

Very Chill electronic song. Reminds me kind of Jai Paul production but with clear singing. Some old Twin Shadow mixed in? Also very sad :(

That video rules. Song is good, too.

I got into Chon through Spotify after looking for artists similar to Vasudeva. So if you or anyone else likes that Chon track, you may want to check out these guys:

I like the song well enough, doesn't immediately pop out, mostly because the vocals are the weak point.. but there are a lot of layers and samples in there. The video rules, and I like this new direction for him overall.

1:40 made me laugh.

TOS tend to have a rotating lineup. I miss the lineup with Brigid who did vocals and keyboards ;____; on tour. It helped smooth out the vocals.

I've seen them live a few times and they were great gigs but they were all Glasgow, where they obviously get a great reception, so I'm not sure if it'd be the same atmosphere elsewhere.

Well they absolutely rocked and try to go see them this tour if you can. They play all the favorites, and primarily the more rock and roll songs to keep the energy up. Scott gets drunk and has great banter with the crowd. Also the closed with an encore of Keep Yourself Warm which had everyone singing. A+ stuff

Heyo here's another new War on Drugs song that sounds really good, but also sounds almost exactly like a song from "Lost in the Dream" (in this case, "Burning"):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBWiMAu3uII

If I'd never heard Lost in the Dream I would be losing my mind over this stuff... but since that album exists and I've heard it a thousand times, I dunno, I'm just hearing more of the exact same here (but again, on the other hand, it does sound really good!).

Yeah it falls flat for me in exactly the same way that pretty much every U2 song does. It just sounds like music I would ignore during a car commercial.
