1 run in game 4. 1.93 ERA, 14IP, 11 K/9, and he was 0-2. Astros Randy Johnson owned. He took 7th in the cy young that year with 84 innings pitched.

Huh, looking him up I'd completely forgotten that Kevin Brown was legitimately really damned good his last year he was with the Dodgers. He was even serviceable his first year with the Yankees.

In my memory he died somewhere around 2000/2001 and was never worth anything the rest of his career.

Kevin Brown signed the first $100 million contract, didn't he?

I covered games featuring a school that Brown was assisting at a few years ago. His son was playing, but wasn't considered a prospect.

Lol, I remember when Kevin Malone signed Kevin Brown to that contract, and predicted he'd start Game 1 of the World Series against the Yankees. The Dodgers were starting to get a lot of poo poo back then for not having any playoff success in the previous 10 years. That was almost 20 years ago 😳

Yeah but at that point they had won literally ONE postseason game since 1988

edit: nevermind, they hadn't won any. The Jose Lima game was in 2004

That 2003 team was so frustrating. They only allowed 556 runs (best in the majors by nearly 100 runs) but only scored 574, worst in the majors, and 17 less than the Tigers who lost 119 games.

I'm sure he will actually win another but he just seems to always get robbed if there's anyone putting up anything resembling competitive numbers (2012, 2013, 2015), and now this year he is absolutely dominant but gets struck with an injury which will almost certainly ruin his chances.

Looking back on the numbers he's put up for his career so far it's really mind blowing how loving good he is. Shame he plays for the Angels lol

Other way around - Brewers got struck out 26 times and struck out 16 Dodgers.

Which means the Dodgers set the NL record and tie the Angels' MLB strikeout record, if Baseball Almanac is accurate.
