Have you played Within a Deep Forest? It's by the save developer and was freeware for a long time (probably still is). It has a lot of the exploration elements of Knytt but with an even more sparse story and is perfect for relaxing game time. You control a bouncing ball that can unlock different elements to transform into (iron, rubber, glass) and has a bunch of connected areas to explore. Check it out.
Knytt Stories is also extremely chill and has Metroidvania elements as well as people's custom campaigns, some of which are included I think

It was my favorite Metroidvania on PC for a long time until Hero Core came out

Man I love Within a Deep Forest

It has some decidedly unchill hairpullingly difficult parts tho

at launch the aiming was sluggish. they fixed that by adding extreme screen tearing, stutter, and a bug that cuts off a quarter of your fov permanently if you use the inventory until you load a new area.

Lmao well done

No way my old PC can run Prey which sucks because I'd like to play it. Hopefully they'll figure out how to fix the PS4 version eventually.

I am terrible at console FPSes so I really, honestly could not tell that there was anything wrong with Prey's controls, they felt as muddy as every other console shooter I've played.

The tie-in comic for the Injustice games is unbelievably good. It was supposed to be 6 issues long but got turned into an ongoing due to unexpected financial and critical success. But neither game's actual story is very good at all outside of a few moments and I'm shocked that anyone is praising them. I mean I guess by fighting game standards it's good, because loving look at any given bad Capcom fighter's awful story, but man. That's a low bar to clear.
The one thing I know about the injustice comic is green arrow died in the injustice universe, and the one currently there was sucked into it from another universe. Except the injustice GA was apparently a billionaire Bruce Wayne type, married to black canary, and has a newborn child with her. So he just kinda inherits that poo poo lol

What a horrible thread to have a post.
The dungeon crawls in Thief 1 were OK at the time but they definitely traded gameplay for atmosphere and that's the part that didn't age well. Bonehoard is the best one. Garrett's dry "That's a long way down" was so memorable that they stuck it in Dishonored. And the Horn of Quintus mournfully echoing through a bunch of hallways was rad.

It has one of the best maps in the game too, with Garrett falling down a hole and adding a section marked "WHERE AM I?"

Will there ever be a stealth based game as good as the original Thief series?

I highly doubt it, not after what happened with T4ief. AAA-level productions just don't fit with the series.

Also I'm a complete weirdo but the earlier Knytt games didn't grab me for some reason? I liked Uurnog, but I probably need to revisit those earlier games and check 'em out....but for now, I am more than happy with Knytt Underground. It has moments of trickiness, but in general it's just so nice to play doable exploration puzzles. So chill. :3:

thief's dungeon crawls are too easy to be super bad, but they're definitely the least interesting part of the game from a design standpoint and survive entirely as a testament to how loving strong the atmosphere in old thief is. the bonehoard, at least, isn't super bad once you figure out that enemies are too slow and lumbering to be a real threat so you just kind of go climbing around a giant crypt and it's pretty neat

It erases saves from the load game menu? From what I remember the game kept a few last saves, not only the last one.

Nah I went to choose Load but chose New without realising and pressing enter on a save and backing out was enough to erase it. My own dumb fault.

Having said that, Prey was a pretty good game. Maybe in a month I'll try finish it. Hopefully they fix their busted PS4 patches.

Player Unknown Battlegrounds? It's a Battle Royale-style game where 100 players are airdropped onto an island(you choose when you drop) and you scrounge for gear to kill everyone else with. It's apparently super fun and way better than those survival games like DayZ that it seems to be most commonly associated with.

Yeah, aside from loving Operation Flashpoint many years ago I've not been an arma lover. I enjoyed some of the stories etc from DayZ but it was laborious to play (similar to my thoughts on EVE).

Had a quick look online and many people say it's fun to play and a way better game than DayZ etc but then there was an article on RPS basically saying 'nope it's still bad like DayZ is for this writer, and the players suck'. Wondered if people cared here since there was no thread I could see and it might be cool in teams of 2/3.
