So I just stumbled upon a tournament called "Goon Cup 1" and decided that I'd join it. Pretty unsurprising that like all goon projects, the creator bailed as soon as it wasn't going the way he wanted. Yet another tournament where the host dropped in the final round

Tonight's tournament experiences: Tournament 1 through 3: host leaves after the first round. Tournament 4: Get to the final, win the first two rounds convincingly, then it disconnects. Tournament 5: Get to the final thanks to the high-ranking player I was going to face in the semis disconnecting, lose final, win second final match, win tournament for some reason? My conclusion is that tournaments are awful and I'll probably stay away from them in the future. At least I got some panel unlocks for winning one.

So if you see "3,3 S!" or "f+2,3,4 S!" in a Josie combo it means that the 3,3 or the f+2,3,4 was your screw move.

Finally worked up some courage to play some online matches. Mostly got schooled, of course, but I did manage one win. 3D fighters are cool -- dude kept charging at me like a bull, and sidestepping and chopping him in the back felt pretty good

This game kinda shits out achievements at you tbh. I'm always surprised at how many pop up when I'm being a piece of poo poo grinding treasure mode. I feel like I'm doing nothing and then bam I get 5 achievements.

Tournaments work fine and you can send/accept invites. Be careful joining random tournaments though. If the host bails the whole thing is disbanded and everyone gets booted.

SFIV counted all diagonals as two simultaneous inputs almost like a plink so it works for either. It would annoyingly cause EX Shoryu to come out instead of Metsu Hadoken occasionally since the inputs overlap, which has never happened to me in this game despite spending 5 hours in training mode yesterday running through different combinations. I tbh haven't found much use to Shinku hadoken anyway so that's a good thing. Also, to anyone having trouble against Katarina: literally let go of the stick, you block high by default. Focus on ducking under her high kicks for a CH fast low, almost all of her 4 poo poo is unsafe so simply punish after, and her lows are so slow you should be able to parry everything.

I'm really bad at poking and punishing, so I decided to try playing without my hopkick and combos to force myself to use my other moves and more movement. Even the CPU is murdering me now  I like a lot of Josie's moves though. It's neat how many of her strings are combinations of other attacks, like her 1,2,4 being the same animation as a 1 and a 2,4 etc. instead of being a completely new set of animations. I'm gonna need to mash that start button before and after matches though, because wow the crybaby anime trope stuff is so bad and her voice acting... yeah. attackmole posted:This game kinda shits out achievements at you tbh. I think probably beating the special chapter might be the only thing that could be considered an "achievement"

I've been using the b4,3,4 ender at the wall, it requires a certain height but I thought it was max damage? Might be a good idea to add it even though it's situational Oh yeah one other good note for any character is that you can generally combo the rage art in after the S! I don't know what the right balance between scaling and damage is though because I don't know they have a minimum scaling like in SF or something. So for example you can hit any standard launcher into f3,4,f2,3,4 S! then rage art. I usually dash in then rage art but maybe it's the same problem I had with d/f1,2,4 and you don't need the dash? Loved Tekken 2 and 3 as a kid and picked this up to relive those games. Turns out Tekken 7 is loving awesome? Not sure who to play yet but have a few characters I like. Kind of swinging towards Lili at the moment as although I'm not a huge fan of her she does have my last name so I feel a sense of strange loyalty. Rochefort army.
