It's really nice getting to cuddle so many cats-- they really take well to me, and it's nice knowing that this can make such a difference both for the kitties while they're in the shelter, and in helping them find forever homes. I think a lot of this week's cuddle crew will do pretty well though; among other things these are some very loud cats! They'll get people's attention.

Not as exciting as kittens, but I'm gonna be heading home to my kitties in a week or so. I know Jessie will be excited (this is the third deployment I've had to leave her with my parents), but it'll be interesting to see how Esme reacts and if she remembers me.

The Great Kitten Escape is why I finally got a child gate for the door to our kitten room. Our fosters have been here just over a week and are already trying to make a break for it when the door opens. Anyway, got a video of our fosters finally feeling well enough to start playing. If anyone lives in the Portland (Maine) area, y'all should come to the Fur Ball this Friday! It's a yearly gala the local Animal Refuge League throws to raise money. It's pretty swanky! You should also check and see if your local rescues do something like this - it's a great way to spend a night out to help animals, and if you have a partner that likes social events it's a loving awesome date.

My foster is doing fantastic! She will now come out of hiding as soon as I come near her hiding spot, and she'll stay out even if I make noise or move around. Today she stayed out even as my roommate got up and went to take a shower! Noises outside the door used to spook her. She's still pretty camera shy so my pictures aren't great, but I'll post some good ones when I get them.

What a pretty lady. Today I'm bringing home a little guy to terrorize Norris:  It's about a 50/50 split between us keeping him and us fostering for a few weeks only; it depends very much on how Norris and Geki react. He's a street baby. Haven't yet met him in person. His brother, the gray-and-white you can barely see, is already off to a permanent residence.

Tl;dr the tabby kitties (Kipper, Cuda, and Mako) have all moved on to find their forever homes. Guppy still needs to put on weight, and Kraken needs to stop being insane. Got home to my parents' yesterday, so I'm finally reunited with my cats. Jessie was all purrs and snuggles, constantly meowing for me and rubbing against me. Esme still hasn't forgiven me for shoving her into the cat carrier, driving her six hours, and leaving her. She barely acknowledges my presence. I think she'll warm up again after I get her home. Hopefully, anyway.

Guppy is a hair shy of 2 pounds so he and Kraken are going to be looking at a Friday return to the SPCA. After Kraken's odd/semi-aggressive display last night I figured it may be worth tiring them out with the fishpole toy. Turns out I was right. This litter just needs insane amounts of stimulation or they go bonkers. Even Guppy started losing his poo poo when I started playing with them. I was with them for a few minutes before I realized I needed to do change things up. Ha, yep. My legs are looking pretty similar, but for slightly different reasons. See the Siamese litter, being Siamese, is real big on trying to get up in your space for cuddles. Which means climbing your legs like a tree. Which is real bad when it's hot out and you're wearing shorts.

Made things interesting for me because I had to make sure he could find his litter box and food bowl whenever he appeared to need them. Still, he's a cute little guy, and we're enjoying his company.

I really like the white tips on Stewie's ears! So handsome! I hope he can find a good home without other cats. Frog is adorable, and Jynx looks a bit like my Norris. Kirk's SUCH A GOOD BABY, oh my goodness. Last night he slept with us without a peep until 4 AM when he made a couple of loud squeaks to let me know he needed help getting back to his litter box. You see, while he's very good at climbing out of his playpen and up to the top of the bed, the trip back down is daunting. I'd rather be woken up for a few minutes of litter time than wake up to kitty poo on the bed!

I too went cat petting the other day, albeit in an unofficial capacity. Lavinia is super sweet. 10 years old, owner surrender.   Gus Gus is 16lbs of cuddles. Until he doesn't want them any more and bites.  American Domestic Floof  Kinda looking for a friend for my cat, it was down to these two but they've both been claimed    I'd go for this idiot in a heartbeat but she doesn't like other cats.
