He takes a very optimistic view of the end of the world, rather than a more realistic Asano Inio take on it. I certainly never thought of Yokohama Shopping Trip as depressing at all.

It's probably my favorite manga. I really wish there was an official English release I could give my money to. It's hard to justify buying a manga when I can't read it (in either Japanese or French) even if the art is gorgeous.

It's super well made and fun. What little tidbits of world building we've gotten have also done a great job at fleshing out the unique world and it feels totally naturally that you have these communities of woodland sprites and talking animals and the like. Kind of like a super chill take on Redwall.

Ayakashiko has been getting a fairly consistent number of updates lately, presumably because the scanlators got a hold of the tankobans. I really like the artwork and it's been charming/feel good as hell so far.
