Random El Rey tangent: I watched Heavy Metal for the first time since El Rey has been showing it a thousand times over the past couple months, and even by the standards of trashy 80s "adult" animation, I don't get it.  Did people only like this because it was the first time they saw cartoon boobies?

Heavy Metal is kind of uneven, but it has parts that I still really like. I think "Den" is hilarious, because it's basically the story of a nerd being transported into the body of a character he probably would have read about in Heavy Metal magazine. The "Bomber" sequence scared the crap out of me the first time I saw it. I skip that part if I watch it now. The trial sequence with Hanover Fist is just weird, but weird enough to be memorable. The final story is probably my favourite. Some beautiful animation in this segment. The way the ending ties everything together is really excellent.
