Carwin vs Lesnar - anytime someone mentions Shane Carwin it's because of this fight

That's not true, whenever I mention Shane Carwin it's because of his giant hands and that he could punch people so hard they'd try to teleport through the floor.

The craziest thing about Carwin was that he actually stood well over over six foot, but was so loving crazy muscly that he looked like a midget.

Speaking of comebacks, Carwin vs. Gonzaga. I can't link as I don't have Fight Pass on this computer.

Jessica Andrade vs. Joanne Calderwood. Good showcase of why Jessica deserves to be in this championship fight. She still gon' get torn up by the champ though.

Demetrious Johnson (c) vs. Henry Cejudo. I like Henry but I'm never going to pass up a chance to throw up a link to the best combat sports athlete of all time. Cejudo is an Olympic gold medalist, one of only three to ever compete in the UFC, so you know his wrestling skills are world class. He had strung together a 10-fight winning streak before facing the champ, and his boxing was giving his opponents trouble as well, with four of those victories coming via stoppage from his fists. Then Mighty Mouse derailed him as hard as any prospect has been derailed, cleaning him up with knees to the body in less than three minutes.

Jesus Christ Mighty Mouse is amazing, poor Cejudo. Loved the slow-mo of MM at the end looking like a helicopter with his legs :)

In terms of comebacks, JDS vs. Stipe 1 was pretty awesome too. Stipe's boxing is good, and he regularly finds a home for a straight right, but JDS weathers it, and his power begins to tell in the later rounds.

I finally got around to watching this, it honestly wasn't that much of a fight. It's like the dude that won was pretty one-dimensional, but that dimension was quite deep. Navy SEAL guy's deal seemed to be "be super tough and, umm, yeah". Kudos to him for stringing together a decent record prior to getting to the UFC but I'm guessing he never faced anyone who was good enough at one thing to inflict enough damage to him to stop him. I think he only lost by decision leading up to this; I wouldn't mind seeing some of those fights to see what sort of damage he was weathering.

His current run in UFC isn't too shabby either. Took out Court McGee most recently with his only loss in 6 fights being to Cote. Honestly I'd suggest people watch his fights (obviously where he wins) to see how good of a striker he can be.

Also UFC 210 was just added to Fight Pass and of course if you haven't heard by now, UFC Fight Pass is getting a weekly fight card called 'Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series’ which begins in July.

The show will be a live experience, in search for rising talent in the MMA ranks, as well as bring back veterans looking for a second chance. Each episode will feature five live fights.

More info: http://www.mmafighting.com/2017/5/12/15633336/new-ufc-fight-pass-show-dana-whites-tuesday-night-contender-series-to-launch-in-july

This is the sort of thing that can inject a lot of life into Fight Pass as well as the discussion for this thread (I guess if not for the main UFC thread or GDT).

FInally caught up on the most recent Glory card. The first two fights were good. But I'm totally exhausted with GLORY gifting RvR decisions against Thai fighters because of he's precious Dutch boy. It's totally obvious and ridiculous.

For those who didn't see, RvR was getting hit by the hard kicks of Petpanomrung Kiatmuu9 pretty much the entire fight. He blocked many of these kicks with his forearm. He put on forward pressure, but did no damage and never got a decent combination in. He won.

Queue post-fight interview, in which audience is booing:

"Look at the side of my body. I see no marks. I blocked all those kicks. So they don't score."

I thought that result was pretty loving weird, but it's nice to hear it from someone anyone else, since Kickboxing is the only thing I'm worse at judging than MMA.

It felt like the Thai bloke could have switched strategies, and probably should have, since a lot didn't get through, but a fair bit did, and it really shut down the other guy's offence, and while you can debate if the thai guy did enough to win, the other definitely didn't
