Even if it does come off, it's fuckin cool to see the nail grow back slowly. The skin underneath the nail bed starts to dry and harden fairly quickly and doesn't hurt after a day or two. I should know, I've done some dumb poo poo.

I took a fastball on my hands once. "fast" was like 80mph in that league. But anyway my thumb did that but worse. It felt funky for months but it just kept growing until the blood and poo poo was broken down or pushed out along the nail.

closed a car door on my thumb about a year ago and it looked a lot like that, except it was a loving perfect imitation of the mickey mouse logo anyway it felt weird but never fell off, I just had the gross black mickey mouse logo under my nail until it grew out after like 5-6 months

i lost a toenail before. rolled a scooters kick stand back into my big toe and pushed the toenail like 2mm straight back. it fell off months later. while i was watching the stanley cup i felt it suddenly just lift up like it knew i would be busy and this was the perfect time for it to make a break for it unfortunately for its getaway plans i had been wearing socks at the time. i am a big believer in socks as i said i eventually did lose the toenail but thats a story for another day

I am horrified by the idea of getting a high pressure blood blister under a nail and having to use a drill or hot needle to pierce it and release the pressure. It's one of those things that I have a sick fascination or draw towards.
