JOINING THE SA FORUMS WILL REMOVE THIS BIG AD, THE ANNOYING UNDERLINED ADS, AND STUPID INTERSTITIAL ADS!!!

You can: log in, read the tech support FAQ, or request your lost password. This dumb message (and those ads) will appear on every screen until you register! Get rid of this crap by registering your own SA Forums Account and joining roughly 150,000 Goons, for the one-time price of $9.95! We charge money because it costs us money per month for bills, and since we don't believe in showing ads to our users, we try to make the money back through forum registrations.

iirc there were only a handful of weirdos doing most of the harassing but one of them was a mod

remember when you basically were forced to use waffleimages because radium or lowtax or whomever was mad at imageshack for some reason

You know he's the villain, because he's got shifty eyes.

quote:

Lowtax has posted in QCS that imageshack was/is blocked "because MacBeth admitted using the SA Forums to advertise his stupid image hosting site for months upon months, if not years. He would regularly post 'updates' in GBS which served as nothing but blatant advertisements for his for-profit service. I don't appreciate companies using our forum members to unwittingly virally advertise their products, and if I discover any company trying to covertly advertise their poo poo through the forums, you'd better believe I'm going to block them."

Wheeee!
write an extension that looks up each picture on ipfs instead
just needs a hardcoded map of urls to sha256 hashes
youd still get all 404 but now its ~decentralised~

Someone in fyad was hosting his sig at kth.cx, which was a huge drain on their bandwidth, so they decided to ‘teach him a lesson’, and replaced his image with a huge picture of nothing. Lowtax was angry because it broke the tables, and argued that if they were really concerned about bandwidth they would have replaced it with a 1x1 gif. Lowtax then filtered kth.cx to something so no one could use the service anymore.
