I think sociopath is a bit far, but Valentina was clearly there to play the game and not make friends. Cold and calculating, sure, but I doubt she's a legit psycho. Either way I live for her more than I ever did before. I always clocked her as putting on a persona 24/7 for the show, not unlike Willam, and the reunion confirming that for me was lovely. I doubt she got eliminated on purpose like Willam's DQ, but it wouldn't surprise me if she did. That telenovela ending in her elim episode and telenovela realness in the reunion certainly got her what she wanted.

I think it's telling that she gets along so well with Trinity and Eureka. As pageant girls they would respect that 'here to win, not make friends' mentality from her. She's a lot like Tyra in that sense of being in it for her, except she puts effort into her drag persona having a nice, sweet personality rather than Tyra just not giving a gently caress. Her smiling through all the drama at the reunion was much of the same she did on the show. Just sticking to her character and not giving in to the messiness. Eyes on the prize at all times.

While we wait for the finale to air, I have some behind the scenes t about the filming of the finale. Nothing about the lip sync songs, who lip syncs who, who the top 2 is etc. Just kind of like downtime stuff about setting up takes, and which queens got the most applause during their entrances, because they usually level out the crowd reactions in the final product and I think it's interesting knowing who gets the best pops. I'm going to put it in spoiler text anyway, because I don't know if any of these tidbits will make it to air, and because I'm sure some people still might not want to know until the episode airs. Just in case. All of this is from the RuPaul's Drag Race Recap podcast, one of the hosts has been going to the live filming every year since season six and gets dat t. Applause for the queens: Usually, the crowd applauds when the queens walk out to the end of the runway, then when they turn around to walk back it dies down b/c the walks go pretty long. Then they'll turn around and like do a wink or w/e and walk off, and people will applaud again. Pretty much all of the queens got a pretty good, reaction from the crowd. Jaymes Mansfield, Kimora Blac etc. Cucu and Charlie got maybe a bit higher. Eureka O'Hara got a great reaction, standing ovation that continued on for a while as she walked back. Aja got another nice reaction from the crowd, and Farrah got a nice one as well. Then Valentina walks out. The way he described it, it was like the theatre was shaking people were clapping and cheering so loud. And it stayed that way for her entire walk down the runway, back again and out after her little pose. Best reaction a queen has gotten, they went crazy. Nina comes out, she gets a great one like Eureka's. Alexis Michelle comes out. Theatre goes quiet. Alexis is getting the equivalent of a drag queen golf clap, worse than what Jaymes and Kimora got at any rate. It was silent as she walked back.The top four all get really amazing reactions from the crowd, but nothing on the level of Valentina. After that all the queens come back out and they set up for the next shot, and RuPaul comes out and does her thing and ofc gets the adoration RuPaul deserves. There's quite a bit of downtime after this b/c production is setting up a shot or redoing a shot or whatever, so all the queens are just standing around waiting. While this is happening the crowd starts going wild for Valentina again and the whole theatre starts chanting her name. She blows them kisses and stuff but it's enough that even she is trying to get them to stop. It went on long enough I guess that some people (weakly) started trying to chant for the top 4 queens as well, but the Valentina love was intense. Awkward. Misc. It is a nice gesture, ish, but it's even kind of gives her fans even more license to go hog wild with it. Instead of obnoxious snake spam, it invites floods of roses that make everything else unreadable.

She claimed she wants her fans to spam all the other queens on her season with roses to show love, but to me (and apparently others here, thanks for making me feel less crazy), it feels like she's showing the kind of control she has over a large group of fans. That's an unsettling gesture. Plus, the crazy-eyes don't make it seem like any less of a threat.
