If that was all rugby could offer I'd certainly find better things to do with my time. Congrats on the win I guess.

Sorry you feel that way. That was good rugby, it may not have been flashy but it was good. The conditions weren't suitable for running rugby and it wouldn't have been in the Lions' interest to play NZs game. But they weren't playing negative football, just a power game that was still very dynamic. They reached 10+ phases many times and put good pressure on the MABs, lots of inside balls and good technical ability for the game they were playing.

Reasonable criticisms:
Lions don't put away their chances and their support lines have been lacking, meaning the rugby has been a bit disjointed. Passes have not been accurate and balls have been dropped (which was true of both teams today).

Not reasonable criticisms:
Boring rugby. If you want the lions to stand back and clap the NZ backs through you can absolutely get to gently caress.

Keep on smilin'

:unsmith:
In those conditions neither side could have played open rugby but the Lions were much better prepared for the alternative. If the first Test is played under similar conditions this performance will give the Lions some confidence.

That tackle to Hughes knee was at least a yellow and possibly a red and he's bottled it.

No chance of a red. Tackle around the knees, only thing wrong was the coming in the side. Would have given a yellow for being a complete dick though.

If it had just been coming in at the side I'd agree but that was, and was meant to be, loving nasty.

This is the new normal, it's been like this for a few years already, though the lions tour is creating a lot more test-like rugby in terms of attention. Until they sort out an international calendar with revenue sharing for tests, the nh teams need the visits from the sh teams and vice versa to each generate their own revenue. Just look at cricket for the end game unless this gets sorted.

He's going to beat The Lions, play himself into All Black contention, score the winning kick to win the test series 2-1,. and we'll all have to sit through another lovely documentary movie, where Ma'a Nonu is a dude in Blackface.
