Well here's how Asus is doing it for LGA2066: To make Socket TR4 work, I imagine you would have to also put the sodimms on a daughter board. Probably wouldn't do regular dimms on a daughter board cause of weight issues.

So B350 looks good for a single GPU build. Any goon-preferred B350 mATX/ATX board? Or at least one that's known to be pretty good? I want to slam some 3600 MHz RAM into it and call myself good for the next 5+ years.

Aren't B350s capped at 3200mhz ram? Or max supported would probably be the better way to phrase it. Officially X370s are supported to 3600. AsRock AB350m pro 4. Super no frills but with a little work got ram to 3200 and easy 3.8 gig oc on the 1600.

Something to keep in mind is that AMD claims AM4 will last until 2020. There's a chance we'll see 8 core CPUs running at 5+ Ghz towards the end of the platform, that's one of the reasons why I ordered a X370 board with pretty oversized VRMs for today's CPUs.

I just noticed that there's finally a BIOS update for the B350M-A, does anyone have any trip reports on it making RAM more compatible or being a good upgrade? I would normally dive right in, but I thought I saw earlier where someone bricked their board with BIOS updating. I bought some Corsair that I thought was on the list, but it turns out it was slightly different so I've been rolling at only 2133 on BIOS 604. Below has been released now. Note that those stats are coming from PassMark though, so it's a self-selecting sample of people who chose to benchmark their system. That might skew the numbers a bit.

It does indicate an uptick though, maybe not as severe but nowhere else on that graph is the difference between quarters so immense. Either a bunch of people spent 1000$ to bot passmark benches or Ryzen seems to be a bigger deal than Conroe, and that's not a good sign for Intel.

Not even "Passmark users", it represents number of Passmark runs made in the past month. And Ryzen is a processor that needs a lot of tinkering to get performing well because of its memory issues. Reminder: Ryzen Passmark runs with AMD processors increased by like 50% in the first couple months after launch and Steam Hardware Survey marketshare decreased. Ive also never benchmarked any one of the work systems ive been given over the years, and ive probably had 5x as many of those than home systems. I don't have any doubt that Ryzen has made AMD far more competitive in the custom build arena though.

LTT Amazon affiliate statistics also showed significant market share increase. So at least currently people are buying much more AMD CPUs than before. But it remains to be seen how big of a portion AMD will manage to carve of CPUs in use.

There's tons of Atom, Pentium, Celeron laptops going out nearly as cheap or even cheaper, but more widely available. Release Raven Ridge already, goddamn AMD. Based on what the A12-9800 and R5 1400 can do, I'm expecting even the mid tier Raven SKU's to just faceroll the poo poo out of Intel products. An Iris 550 plays BF1 at around 45fps at 720p, low preset with 50% render scaling, the R7 on the 9800 does 48-55fps at 100% render scaling, same settings, while attached to the hip of lovely CPU cores.

Weird things like Freesync 2 VESA mounted water cooled computers. Boxes that pretty much just serve as 4k60 Steam Links. $450 complete gaming systems - monitor, keyboard, and mouse included.
