Justin Turner is really drat good and he deserves a chance to go to an All Star Game after the way he reinvented himself late in his career. He's 32 and may not get another shot with all the young talent at 3B in the NL right now

I get why JT didn't win the fan vote, particularly with how crowded 3B is right now in the NL. But reserves are picked through an opaque process that includes player voting and judgement calls by the league. That's when someone needed to say "this guy is in the fourth season of a remarkable mid-career renaissance and he's on track to win the batting title. I think there's just a general bonus given out to players that make the roster as well.
