Sagan is kicked out of the Tour

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/peter-sagan-disqualified-from-tour-de-france/

A bit harsh in my opinion, especially since he has no prior history - but I guess it's fair enough due to how dangerous the crash he caused was.

Poor Sagan though, he's one of my all time favorite riders.

Edit: Just saw the video. That was entirely deserved, even if it was on Cavendish.

He was riding into him before hand trying to force him off, then when it didn't work he shoulder barged him. Either Sagan just had a 'rush of blood' moment and lost it, or he was deliberately trying to injure Cavendish and make him pull out of the tour. Which ever it was he deserves being banned from the Tour.

"Banned from the tour"? What? You certainly mean you agree with his DQ for the year and not that he shouldn't be allowed back. If the latter, this is goon rage at a new level. Honestly, if not for the people involved and the stage it happened on, this is a much smaller deal in most other cases I believe.

I'd still wager that while Sagan did not make things better with the elbow, Cav picked a bad line after being boxed in and Sagan always had front wheel ahead of him and had no obligation to maintain space for Cav out of being nice.

very much so
DQ seems a bit harsh to be honest. Find a video of the incident (geo-blocks everywhere), but try to focus on what Demare is doing...

Sagan is amazing and exciting. But every once in a while, he becomes a dumb kid pinching the butt of a podium model.

I'm a fan of both Cavenish and Sagan. Sagan was definitely moving into Cavendish but the elbow didn't come out until after Cavendish was already falling. There's no way that Sagan was trying to deliberately injure Cavendish though. He was going to the right of Demare and drove Cavendish into the barriers in his efforts to do so. Bad move. Not sure it's tour DQ worthy though.

Wtf that's insane. It looks like his arm goes out more or less automatically because he's leaning and Cav is right on him (and already doing his usual face plant). I've done it myself (and took out a dude), it's not something you can really control in a situation like that. Either the elbow goes out or you crash.

Having looked at it a bunch now Cav did have Demares wheel and Sagan goes smashing across sideways. The elbow is irrelevant.

Demare then does the same thing to Bouhanni who is doesn't allow himself to be crashed out.

Never ever a DQ though

There is nothing in this at all. Cav had no room to pass there. The only reason he flicks his elbow out (which doesnt make contact) is to avoid getting taken down. Completely Cavs fault and total horse poo poo

The right punishment would have been to figure out roughly how many points he was likely to win green by and penalise him that amount imo
