The cop from the Baggs looks an awful lot like Geoffrey Lewis, but it can't be him, right? He was doing real movies by 1973.

Do Trace and Frank have a digital version of their show you can buy online? Because they're still great but they never tour anywhere near me.

Unfortunately no. They really want people to see it live, which I recommend. In fact the Office Etiquette short is part of their live tour.

Looks like the Live coupons work with the Father's Day coupon. 30% off Riffs :c00l:

The discounts look like they'd add to 30% off but it's slightly less because of the way math works. E.g., 10-30% = 7. ((10-15%)-10%)-5% = 7.27

I keep forgetting that and then wind up confused when the riffs cost slightly more than I'd calculated in my head. Because it seems like it'd be so straightforward.

Weird, they never sell out here and there's only like two theaters in the area that even show Fathom events. I would just call the theater and ask, or show up if you got nothing better to do.

I think Maxwell Lord's "Sold out" was actually a "Cancelled" in disguise.

My showing had like 5 people. A couple of kids sat right behind me; they chuckled at half the jokes and said "who the heck is X" at the other half.

Yeah me too. It was funny what halves didn't overlap though. Like the showbiz pizza riff during the raccoon short went right over their heads but flashed me back to 1990.

What was the point of The Baggs?

Rick
Feb 23, 2004
When I was 17, my father was so stupid, I didn't want to be seen with him in public. When I was 24, I was amazed at how much the old man had learned in just 7 years.
There is no rhyme or reason, I've been where the theater is 3/4 full (and it's not a small auditorium), I've also been with just the friends I came with. The replay actually seems to get a more consistent crowd, or at least the same People Who Think They Are Funny But Aren't group are always at those, if it's the Tuesday replay.

Doublepost, I finally finished Day of the Animal. I'm incredibly disappointed with the lack of a five-minute bear fight between Leslie Neilson and a bear. But it delivered a solid number of animal punches per minute.

Quick question guys, but does anyone have a favourite of the new rifftrax films?

I tend to prefer it when they are mocking old films myself, so Ator is pretty high on my list of good ones.

Attack From Space is a weird movie. Pretty much nothing happens in the entire thing and Starman barely shows up, except at the very end with his interminable fight scene.

I really wish there was a Rifftrax-type thing for the oceans of soft-core porn feature length movies out there. You know, the kind of dreck that's churned out largely for direct to video or premium cable late night programming. Sometimes it has a horror element mixed in with really awkward attempts at titillation. As an aside, I find the titillation bookended by really hamhanded displays of violence to be both disturbing and kind of hilarious. It's something that you can find in a ton of "mainstream" horror movie, too.

Anyway, even if it doesn't have the horror or thriller element to it, the sexual politics always seem like they are perceived by 12-year olds that only have a second-hand experience with sex and the dialog can be so clunky it's hilarious. I understand why Rifftrax stays away from this stuff. And besides, there's still tons of "clean" material out there for them to explore.

i learned about David DeCoteau (aka Richard Chasen aka Ellen Cabot aka a bunch of other names) from red letter media and he pretty much lives off directing direct to video movies that are pretty terrible in which half of them contain topless men for gay men to fap to. also they all seemed to be filmed at or around his very nice house with a pool in the back. i dunno if i could see the rifftrax crew getting into those - probably too adult

i remember watching this Beach Babes 2: Cave Girl Island (trailer) movie off skinimax at a motel when i was young in the mid 90s and found out that he directed it

enjoy another trailer to one of his films that you may or may not have heard of

Last night, this was posted on the RiffTrax twitter:

Today, I got some more details.

Erik from RiffTrax posted:

Yes, this is a subscription service we are working on! And it's almost ready to go. We'll be doing a soft alpha/beta test soon (hence the "Beta" badge!). We're working on Roku (and web) first, and if it's a hit, more platforms will follow.

Basic idea is: $5.99 a month, unlimited streaming-only, and the titles are 100+ feature-length VODs, 200+ shorts, and probably some exclusive subscriber-only content refreshed monthly.

We're also working on more site enhancements to make the whole thing shinier, including a new design, a Watch list / queue feature, and more.

Exciting!
