That body with the ST205 drivetrain would be my ideal rally rep. I can't even remember the last time I saw a 205 on the road let alone a 185, looks sooo good 😍😍😍👍💯

Yep, and they barely worked when the car was new. My mom had a '72 from new which got sold along with my dad's mint '66 GTO shortly after I was born (doh), and then he and I looked at probably 15 project GTs in the hopes of finding something we could handle finishing restoring in the early 90's, and not a single one of them worked properly in anything that was short of 'completely restored'.

The '73 my wife had worked fine mechanically, but you had to use a separate switch to actually turn the lights on. From what I gathered lurking the OpelGT boards, this was about as good as 90% of them ever get.

That *thunk* when they locked in was so drat satisfying.

They don't have a good track record.

In the past few decades...uh, probably the C4 ZR1 and perhaps the GNX are leading contenders where they really didn't gently caress up much. Granted they had issues and faults but they slipped through the cracks.

I love weirding people out with the 968 lights especially since they almost look upright enough that people don't realize they're flip-ups. The conversions to 993 fixed lights are gorgeous although they need entire new fenders or carefully hacking together 993 and 968 fenders.

I've seen a fair few 185s here over the past few years but still no 205s, even at car shows / fan events. I think only 77 ST205s were sold in Australia, out of 2500 worldwide, although Japanese imports like mine might help the numbers a little bit.
Thanks!

Same here; always wanted one in the worst way since I learned the US was getting them. I probably sound biased but I'd argue the Mk2 RS is a future collectible/classic.
