Have it go to Evocati. When actual Evocati people say it sucks, or more likely they'll say nothing/praise it cuz they're rubes, have shills sign up for accounts and "leak" how epic 3.0 in Evocati is right before the Gamescom sale.

Current Evocati aim dates are delayed to August 10th - August 17th.

Aurora re-build was the methodology by which Aurora was also becoming i2.0 compliant, if they do not have it done then evocati testing becomes kinda pointless... 3.0 cannot exit Evocati without the Aurora existing and working correctly.

This is also not updated as complete or not, even though other tasks have been marked as feature complete.

Delamar is an asteroid the size of a planet in Nyx system. It's within the Glaciem ring

The rumor is that there are no planets in 3.0. Even Will leaked this bit of info in Spectrum about a week ago, causing quite a stir. I am not even sure if they have actually shown Delamar in their recent AtV shows; only the moons. So if it's not in the first 3.0 release, it could very well be in a follow-up 3.0x release.

Also, lol, volumetric fog is still not updated as feature complete, and still says "ETA is 9th June (was 30th May)".

Yeah I opted to keep things pretty simple for the graphic tho it's anything but.

Technically Delamar is an asteroid the size of a minor planet, the largest of its kind in its asteroid belt in Nyx)... but not actually in Nyx to start because it's coming to Stanton in 3.0 first... tho there's a chance it might not be in 3.0 at launch ... and even if it is it would be without its asteroid belt because ... (insert further hand waving blah blah here followed by a non-sequitur Moma belt reference.)

So I opted for a moon icon instead of adding an asteroid one, even though they call it a planet.

I think it's awesome that you're passionate about it all, because you've invested so much into learning how it all goes together. I think it gives you a unique perspective into what CR says he's going to do. I still doubt he's coded a line of code since the 90s.

Chris Roberts talks about how he's going to do all these amazing things like it's child's play. He's in it for "acting macho" in the programming world. It eats me up to see not only people buying into it, but even companies who have actual talent behind them.

Indeed. I really love to build things. Sadly, as I got older, my interest gets diverted to various things. Also, having a family and *gasp* responsibilities, tends to do that. Back in the day, when it was just me, I was in dev heaven.

I have no reason to believe that Chris writes any code for the game. In fact, more than once source, including those who spoke to The Escapist, have confirmed this. And given the leap in tech between the time he left, and came back, it's not the kind of thing you can just pick up, given how gamedev tech moves so fast, and so quickly.

quote:

Though for you I can only imagine when CR is all "oh yes, not only will you land on your planet you'll also interact with a world as detailed as crysis but whole planets! With wildlife! That you can hunt! And procedural birds! Yeah it's like so simple we just flip a switch!"

And everybody is all "omg it's loving amazing sauce!"

And you and others like you (even me!, but less in experience), are all "wtf is this guy serious? Surely nobody is dumb enough to..."

Yup. For me, I had stopped following the project. If I was still actively following it, I would have raised the alarm a lot sooner. It wasn't until some people started pinging (of course, because they know that at the time I was the only person who had ever built such a game) me, that I decided to catch up. I spent an entire week reading and catching up. Then I saw that Summer 2015 update, went back to look at the stretch goals, and was like "loving LOL!! They're so screwed. No way they build this poo poo now". So I reached out to him on Facebook and LinkedIn, he just blew me off. I reached out to our common friends, and he blew them off. So I wrote the blog to warn everyone. Their response back then, coupled with where we are today, pretty much explains why he blew me off. He knew, that I knew.

quote:

It makes me shake my head, but I bet for you it's more upsetting because not only is he saying things you and some others have done through hard work, he's also adding tons of lies that people just dive head first into. I know that's got to be frustrating because everybody wonders why this didn't happen to a developer who could have actually done something with this.

It's upsetting not only for those reasons, but because, unlike him, I have spent a whole lifetime on these sort of games. And though I never sought mainstream appeal, as I wasn't building my games for mainstream, I was always proud of the fact that, win, lose, or draw, I did it my way. Then he comes in, misleads everyone, gets a bad of money, taints the whole genre, not to mention crowd-funding - and basically is going to run off with it. But I hold all the cards (some of which he doesn't even know that I hold), and when the dust settles, if he doesn't deliver on what he has promised, I am going to make it one of my goals to put him in jail. As I've said before, they have no loving clue who or what they're dealing with.

quote:

This huge, enormous windfall of free money and support fell into quite possibly the worst possible ex-developer. It's all squandered and wasted. What could have fueled a normal studio for decades and multiple games is going to run out before CR even makes a good functional vertical slice of even his single player game.

All he had to do was build the original game, then build on top of that. Once they figured out the formula for lies + dreams + JPEGs = profit, they just kept going.

quote:

I have not supported CIG yet, but I know there is irreparable harm done to how games will evolve and get funded now. It's going to be a lot harder to be an indie dev now. It's going to also be hard to have a great idea but fight the "I'm not CR guys really!" stigma that's going to plague projects that have unique scope.

It's already a lot harder, and though most aren't saying anything in public, and for obvious reasons, everyone is just waiting for the other penny to drop. It's also the reason why US media, but for minor updates, are mostly ignoring him and the game now. He has completely squandered goodwill and credibility, while exchanging it for money. This game made him a millionaire, so he has very little reason to give a poo poo. That's why he treats backers with such disdain, disrespect, and contempt.

quote:

On the bright side, Derek, at least you are retired and successful already.

Which is bad for them because they picked a find time to screw up.

yeah, I think you'll see a boisterous release to evocati. it'll be completely broken, with zero streams or official information on it besides "it's amazing, trust us"

it might hit a few days before their gamescom presentation, but releasing 3.0 in its current state to backers would kill funding for one of their biggest months of the year

so yup, I think this is what we're all expecting. backers can then claim the evocati date as the "release" date, even though I'm pretty sure it'll be stuck in evocati for at least a month before hitting wider testing to the PTU

Yeah, I assume as they were planning out their Gamescom demonstration, they took stock of what they had lying around asset-wise and said, "Well, we did do all that Nyx work a couple years ago that we never released -- why not use Levski for it?"

So then it's the centerpiece of their 3.0 demo, but now they're obligated themselves to shoehorn Delamar in to Stanton, though it makes little sense. It bears the telltale ad hoc-iness of so much of their development prioritization. It's got to be exhausting to the developers, having to fly by the seat of Chris' pants all the time.
