Billy Butler: Fat Guy by Day, Doubles Machine by Night
Here is my shameless plug:

Salvador Perez

What can I say about the guy? He's fun. And he clearly has fun:

He's also pretty good. He might not be 4 time gold glove good. But he has four gold gloves:

He celebrates wins with a gatorade bath and the Salvy Splash is popular enough the white house (the old cool white house) referenced it when the Royals won the series:
https://twitter.com/Royals/status/753614153680510976

Also Salvy is a career 3 for 3 on stolen bases. He stole one tonight!

And while SAS is all about the Beltre-Andrus bromance, but Salvy-Cain is also quality:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1n4NE9S_2yo

Screw it, you should vote for LoCain too. They both deserve it:

Day 3

Ballot count: 15 (as of yesterday before I fell asleep)

First of all, I need to admit that I had neither Salvador Pérez nor Lorenzo Cain on my ballot and I am deeply sorry because they are both wonderful and I might literally cry if/when they are ever on separate teams.

Second of all, :siren: fun facts! :siren: I forgot how to make bullet points, so...

-There are now 76 players with at least one loved vote, and 70 players with at least one hated vote. Once again, you hate harder than you love, as the top three hateds have 189 combined points and the top three loveds have 145.

-The AL East has the most players with at least one hate-point. The AL East also has the most players with at least one love-point. The AL Central has the fewest hated players, and the NL West has the fewest loved.

-The love/hate overlap has expanded to six players. I wonder how many will make it into the top 25.

Can MLB players who are currently playing in other leagues be voted for? I'm guessing no but I want to make sure before I omit Manny from my ballot.

:siren: More fun facts! :siren:

The way I've been counting your votes is by putting them all into two spreadsheets. I copied every player's name out of each team's Wikipedia entry in order to make the spreadsheet, along with team, division, and each player's position.

I say this to preface the fact that you are all some grudge-having motherfuckers. I barely even have to scroll around the "most hated" spreadsheet to add points when I sort the sheet Z -> A on the total points column. Hate some new people, drat it!

My most hated list is essentially made up of 3 types of baseball player:

1. guys who beat their wives or are otherwise pieces of poo poo
2. guys who are hella right-wing and say dumb poo poo
3. guys who always beat up my poor poor Blue Jays

my most loved list is full of blatant homerism and then dudes who seem fun

My most hated list is basically the same, people who have intentionally hurt/tried to hurt people (on or off the field) and people with reprehensible opinions. I almost put one guy on there for having a lovely ill-thought-out tattoo, but then I remembered that homophobia exists.

Speaking of blatant homer votes, Jacob deGrom is starting against the Padres tonight. Just saying. :ninja:

There are still hundreds of players in baseball who are both a) in great shape and b) not gigantic shitheads.

I'm definitely not making the argument for him to be on anybody's favorites list, he's certainly not on mine and my Arrieta shirtsey has gone unworn for awhile now. Just suggesting that maybe he doesn't belong on a list of least favorites.

also I would like to submit Willson Contreras for everybody's consideration, for being amazing at the plate, fantastic behind the plate (his pitch calling/framing can still improve but he's young), and a super cool dude IRL:

I'd have no problem with you arguing that he isn't a shithead (though others may disagree), but you seem to be arguing instead that his shitheadedness is balanced out by the fact he's in good shape, which a) doesn't excuse it in any way and b) is hardly unique amongst professional athletes.

I mean, I definitely made it clear in the OP that voting based around player dreaminess was allowed/encouraged, so I don't even know what to say. Also, someone had a handsomest player thread and that was fun for a while.

Unless you mean some sort of platonic handholding thing in which case I have no idea. There was a game in which Seth Lugo talked about his curveball, and demonstrated different grips with a ball as he explained, and I thought to myself that he had much prettier hands than I would expect a major league pitcher to have.

My last lobbying post, I promise.
Were you wanting to vote for a Cub as a favorite player but concerned that Bryant, Rizzo or Baez were too obvious of choices? Well you should still vote for Javy because he's adorable, but let me introduce you to Jon "The Federalist" Jay.

His name allows for a very large docket of puns in the GDT's.
He holds the record for most consecutive errorless innings in center field, a record he took from my all-time favorite player: Curt Flood.
Circus catches? He can do circus catches. https://youtube.com/watch?v=SGfCarIhf7w
Does he get along with the fans? Oh yeah.
