So Liars have been releasing videos for the past few weeks. Today they released 4 more. Each video is a letter. So far the videos spell out THEME FROM.

Saw them at ATP Iceland ahead of Portishead a few years back with no background on them. Was in the front row. I was blown away.

I've never gotten to see them live. I really wish I could've seen them during the Sisterworld days. They played older stuff on that tour as well.

I don't know if they do this kind of best of type show anymore.

Liars are a great band. It feels like Liars took over right where Trans Am stopped being good, even though they don't really sound similar, but like Trans Am, Liars do the whole thing where every album is radically different from every other (which was true of Trans Am up to and including their best album, TA). Also they both have done great synth albums, the aforementioned TA and Liars' Mess.

My least favorite Liars albums are Drums Not Dead and Sisterworld, based solely on the fact that those are the two I've listened to the least. I've still listened to both those albums way more than most albums by most bands.

My favorite one is They Were Wrong So We Drowned. For literally 10 years I have had "There's Always Room on the Broom" as my ringtone. I think it's driving my wife crazy.

I'm not a huge Liars fan but they just dropped a new track about half a month ago that is pretty awesome.

Called Cred Woe.

Before WIXIW/Mess that was the opinion I heard the most, which makes me think I should listen to it more.

I'm a big fan of Mess but I'd kinda forgotten about Drums not dead. I'm not sure if I'm 100% sure on their new(ish) track Cred Woes but will wait for the full album and give it a go.
I've tickets Vision so get to see them this summer. Hoping they'll be good live.

My introduction to Liars came from a 2008 ep of NPR All Songs Considered w/ Thom Yorke as a guest DJ. The interaction he has with Bob Bollen about them is kind of great. (FFWD to the 3:00 mark if you're impatient)

Woof. TA was the album where I just completely gave up on Trans Am, who had been one of my favorite bands until that point. My recollection is that it sounded like The Faint or some other kind of middling garbage that basically resembled Orgy.

It's been 15 years, I could see it being worth a revisit, but I sold the album years ago.

You probably remember correctly, it was a very polarizing record.

That said, I dunno how anyone could hate the first song on it:
