i took monty on a walk last night. we went to our usual place, the place with the pirate ship that i've posted a couple of times. i usually let him run around there. so i let him off the leash and he took off running like an idiot like usual. wellllll i didn't know that there were some kids playing on the other side of the pirate ship. i hear some screaming and next thing i know monty is chasing some little girl and she is freaking out and crying and running into her mom's arms. whoops.

Yeah don't do that. Luckily no one was hurt, but all it takes is once for someone to have your dog put down. It's not fair but it's the world in which we live. I hope the kids, Monty, you and the mom are ok.

Luckily no one was hurt, but all it takes is once for someone to have your dog put down. yeah i felt like a complete rear end in a top hat. i apologized about 100 times. the mom seemed okay with the whole thing. monty didn't know anything bad had happened, he thought the girl was playing with him when she ran and that's why he ran after her. all in all it lasted about five seconds total, but still enough that people could get the wrong impression. had i known there were kids around i would've kept him on the leash and probably skipped the playground. lesson learned: check around the ENTIRE area before letting him run around.

Part of the reason Monty thought that girl was playing with him is because he has this bond with the neighbor's two year old and they play chase a lot. When they go inside, the baby starts crying and it's heartbreaking  I'm at the kitchen table eating breakfast with the back door open, and we can hear the neighbor and her baby out back.
