forget about ur worries and ur strife
This was a good episode but I'm done trying to rate these things as better/worse than the others anymore. R&M has become something bigger than most TV shows ever achieve so I'm just along for the ride at this point.

Can't wait to see how low they bring Jerry this season, though. Hopefully he keeps hanging around the outskirts of the episodes and we see his star fall further and further.

Episode was great! It felt like my first watch of Anatomy Park, so I'm hoping it grows on me since that's one of my favorite episodes, now. The episodes that have a strong, central parody usually seem a lot better!

Speaking of, do any moonlighting for this episode?

Funny you should ask! A lot of the work they have me do is vehicle reference models, and this was a most vehiclest episode!

I feel like the season is going to have to focus on / end up with Beth and Jerry both completely miserable so as to justify them getting back together.

But I also feel like we already explored all of that in the original Interdimensional Cable episode, so I'm really not sure where Harmon is going with this.

They were completely miserable when they were together, too, with just a few brief moments of codependent romance keeping their marriage from sinking entirely. The show doesn't have to keep these two together since they broke the status quo at the end of the first episode, and as manipulative as Rick is Beth is still better off without Jerry.

Jerry is better off without Beth

I feel like where Harmon is going with this is "Jerry will become a cool single dad and it will become obvious that when you have two parents, one being a bumbling incompetent isn't actually as bad as one being an emotionally stunted alcoholic" and we'll realize it was Beth all along that was keeping Jerry down. Jerry being a useless tool all by himself won't make good TV for anyone, and it's Dan Harmon, he's trying to make a point here somewhere.

I think this was subtly hinted at when Summer just became a raging bitchy mom after 3 weeks of Suburbia.

A good show, sad we only have 8 new episodes left.

Everything changes, Pit.
Even gods.

Jerry and Beth would both need to undergo some major character development before them getting back together makes any sense, if it even happens this season

Jerry is better off not being around Rick. The reason Beth's life is going to keep getting worse isn't because Jerry is or isn't in it, it's because she's letting her abusive father make her decisions for her. As long as that continues she's going to keep suffering.

But then this show turns suffering into comedy gold, so let's hope this train wreck keeps rolling!

I kind of felt that at first, when they first arrived at the Mad Max world, but they quickly dropped in their unique brand of dark twists and subversions and I was totally sold by the end.

Lots of cultural references? IDK it was funny so unlike anything family guy has done in a long time.

Thing is it was more like early Simpsons where they'd take some idea or theme and then go their own unique direction with it that was true to their style.

Instead of the later Simpsons seasons where they just literally re-enact popular movies exactly as they are, but with Simpsons characters. :effort:

tfw you're peeing next to someone in the lineup and they don't know
Honestly I felt that this episode was REALLY bad. The Mad Max thing would have been funny as a short gag, but somehow it was stretched to cover the whole episode.

The whole narrative of how Summer and Morty were dealing with the divorce was ham-fisted and didn't really go anywhere- total throwaway premise that seemed forced by the story line rather than a vehicle for good plot and humor.

At the same time, Summer's new arc as a character is a solution in search of a problem. Her narrative is shallow. Her gimmick about being a badass is funny but again, it's an occasional gag being turned into a major plot point. Right now it's hard to understand what this new Summer is bringing to the show that was lacking before.

I am also worried that we are veering into wackiness and edgy humor for its own sake, which would be a drat shame and threatens to put the show into Hot Topic Invader ZIM autist territory. Zaniness for its own sake is the worst kind of lazy writing and it has taken down it's share of otherwise good shows.

The first episode of the season was excellent, so I'll reserve judgment, but this episode was trash and overall just lazy fan service.

I mean, I figure Summer was only really like that because it was her coping mechanism. She latches just as hard onto Rick as her mom does, and when she was in a state of disarray she slingshot right past that in order to instead become more Rick than Rick. Now that it's said and done, she's probably going to be more like her normal Season 2 self. She just told Jerry not to look back, after all.

Lol, someone hasn't been around long enough to have their favorite show's season premiere be no more than a re-airing of the season's first episode despite them having aired it months ago for publicity.

Can't really blame them when they do that as not everyone is a turbo-nerd that caught the first episode on its limited airing, but I still prefer how Rick & Morty did it.

I stand by the opinion that the meteor episode of The Simpsons is one of the best and should be retconned to actually be the series finale.

The whole town deciding to stand together and face their collective fact after discussing their weirdeness while singing Que Sara just works perfectly as an end to the show.
