So hey, the Weeklong Deals are actually real good this week, probably the best concentration of good stuff I've seen in awhile. And the Anno series is on sale until Wednesday, still some of my all-time favorite builder games. If you'd like to peruse my roundup, it's right here.

I own Terraria but didn't have the time to get into it years ago when my friends went crazy with multiplayer. Since they're long over it, is singleplayer even worth messing around in?

Yes. It's based mostly on exploration, building and adventure so it doesn't really matter if it's single or multiplayer. It's a great game.

I mean, some of them just have guns that work like shooters, so I guess it depends on how broad you want to get.

It's easy to miss, but on a lot of missions you can change your vehicle. So sometimes you'll have to do an "early" mission later when you have a decent ride that can actually handle it.

For some missions, the default loadouts make it impossible to 100% them. You need to use other vehicles and/or unlock the second afterburner upgrade.

By coincidence I've yesterday opened the App app on my TV and found out that Samsung Steam Link Beta app is finally released in EU (Czech Republic).

Test

- First click on Install failed with 302 error (I think that is the correct number). Restarting the TV fixed this.
- Then the app couldn't see my host computer, but after restarting both if found it.
- App asked to connect something to TV USB port, so I used wireless mouse+keyboard.
- Test showed 12 ms +-1,2 ms lag with no packet loss.
- Setting Steam Link app on TV to 4K did nothing as host is still streaming only in 1080p and there is no UHD option available on the host (but I do have only 1080p monitor). I've set it the way that it should stream in the client resolution. Not that my GPU can handle it, but I wanted to test it nevertheless.
- Played only Rise of the Tomb Raider which has a small but noticeable lag.

My setup
- Samsung KS7002.
- 1 Gbit Ethernet (RJ-45) wall sockets in every room leading to Edimax 16-port gigabit full duplex rack-mounted switch (with no rack). Router is behind the switch so the in-house communication is really fast.
- Microsoft Sculpt Desktop used as a TV controller as I do not own a gamepad.
- Desktop: Core i5 Haswell, 16 RAM, NVIDIA GTX 770.

So all in all it looks promising, but they still have issues to fix.

So I'm about to play Fallout 4 for the first time because vague fond memories of Fallout 3, is it better to use a controller or KB/M? There isn't a dedicated Fallout thread to ask in so I'm asking here.

For Fallout 4 I'd keep the controller handy still. A few parts of the UI (like the whole settlement building interface) are less bad with one.

Fallout 4 is like if they fixed everything wrong with New Vegas but then removed everything right.

It has more potential as a sandbox but the plot and gun design is a bad™.

Yea I've heard a lot about how terrible the story is so I've just been wandering around killing and looting stuff - it's pretty fun! I keep finding little doo-dads that I assume are quest objectives or something since they don't sort into junk, it's cool I can pick them up without the associated quest if that's the case.

Also thanks for the advice guys, been using KB/M and it feels pretty good.

Worst part of the game is the intense desire to pick everything up clashing against my limited inventory space :(

Ha ha, poo poo, you really nailed it with that comment. I was so profundly disappointed with FO4 for that reason. It's so loving close to greatness. It's too bad no one at Bethesda has ever read a goddamn book in their life. They have the worst loving writers, it's embarrassing.

I thought Fallout 4 was alright, but the base-building aspect didn't grab me at all. I didn't care if the generic NPCs lived or died. In fact, I don't think I distinctly remember a single one of them except maybe the black guy who heads the Minutemen, and even he is completely unremarkable. Fallout 3 at least had Moira.
