If Maffew is to be believed he had 25K followers before he deleted his account. If he just said "Hey, I have to pay rent and you all like my gifs. Could you maybe give me a dollar so I can pay rent" he'd probably end up getting at least $1000 a month. But instead he had to be a capitalist about it.
