Unfortunately, it's fairly unlikely that shapeshifting will ever be added to the game, devs have said that the investment is too big for the return, because it would require essentially all the assets for a full player character with a full set of animations.

No idea how easy SRS leveling is without the helmet.

Levelling SRS is easy without the helmet, and it is a common item. Even though baron SRS has seemingly gained some popularity the past few weeks, it might be slightly more expensive on day1 or day2 but it should be really cheap after that.

As an alternative, you can craft a +1 minion skills helmet as well using the following vendor recipes:

any life flask + orb of transmutation + any bone spirit shield = minion life flask

minion life flask + blue helmet + alt orb = +1 minion helm

Bone spirit shields should start popping up around level 15 in act2 somewhere. Check the npc vendors as well. Then just keep your eye out for a 4link helmet to use with the 2nd recipe.

To add to this, you can craft a +1 fire wand for SRS even earlier.

Red gem + Iron ring = Ruby ring
blue wand + ruby ring + alt orb = +1 fire wand

Ideally you would want to do this in a BBR wand and run SRS-Minion Damage-Melee Splash.

Ah nice, didn't know about the helmet recipe. Should be pretty smooth leveling then. After that upgrading to Baron for the +2 should help, until I get a 5L/6L.

Pretty sure I'm going to start with frostbolt mines for 3.0. After some testing in the beta i think I can deal with the mine detonation and hopefully get at at least 2 detonate gems. Targeting can still be a bit fiddly but with more experience it should get better. I was doing elementalist in the beta, but I think I might go saboteur on line.

Disappointed they got rid of the gem vendor and replaced it with a single gem.

What is going to be a good Uber Lab build for a starter build? I was thinking of doing a totem Flame blast as first build but think there is something better I can build on a budget that can grow to do Uber Lab runs.

Some thoughts I have are Blade Flurry or Vortex Blade but not sure if those are good builds on a budget as a starting build.

Does anyone know if Dark Pact actually scales off your life if you don't have any active skeletons, or does the life scaling only work if you target skeletons with it?

I have no idea how to min/max this skill or if it's even league starter viable but I'm determined to make it work.

e: I'm basically looking at some dumb self-cast Dark Pact Guardian right now, although I'm pretty sure totems are going to be way better for self-casting it.

I think it may be because I am planning a melee focused build, but they either do nothing for the character I am planning to build or has an annoying sounding caveat. Which I suppose is the point but I can't really figure out which one I would like.

That being said, taking another look now, Resolute Technique sounds like something I could use. Resolute Technique and Iron Reflexes too if I am sure I would be tanky enough.

Anyone got any tips for Ngamahu's Flame cyclone (meatballs)?

There seem to be a bunch of options for Ascendancy - I've read guides for Berserker, Raider and Slayer. Berserker is probably the most straight forward, although on my previous Ancestral Warchief build the "Take 10% more damage" was kind of a liability in the midgame before my hp-pool caught up.

I'm also wondering if the Immolate Support might be a good one to swap in for something. I'm not sure what it would go in place of, though, because the added flat damage is kind of tough to figure how it compares to some of the Increased and More modifiers from the other supports.

I think right now I'm leaning towards the Berserker build. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips, though.

Yes, the point of the Keystones is to have some sort of associated drawback. For melee, RT and IR are very popular choices (Unwavering Stance as well). If you're not going crit, RT is almost a no-brainer since it completely lets you ignore accuracy. If you're not using Evasion as your primary mitigation stat, then IR and US make sense as you can use hybrid AR/EV gear and possibly get higher total armor and you can use said armor to shrug off the extra hits you'll be taking while enjoying never getting stunlocked.

Chaos Innoculation is another good example. Complete immunity to chaos damage (the hardest one to cap and the one most likely to show up as DoT, which means armor/evasion/block are useless), but with only 1 life you need to really invest into ES and also deal with ailments and stun that are based on % of effective life. If you can make the additional investment to deal with the drawbacks, the upsides are great.

Tips? if you want to play that in the coming league the axe is going to be expensive, and the neck is going to be VERY expensive. Breaches are rare as hell compared to the previous leagues, and unless the patch notes mention serious changes from how it was on beta, everything from them will be quite expensive.

Raider would be my top choice, move speed is king for Cyclone, but Berserker would be a close second.

You can totally play without the xoph's neck also, its an upgrade for sure, but i still managed to get to all the way to t16s on my atlas without having one. Also i've played it as zerker in two leagues now and it works great for my tastes.

Why would the axe be any more expensive than previously? It isn't a Breach unique.

Right, I always forget the axe wasn't actually a Breach drop, it went up a ton in price after Breach League but that was likely just popularity. And sure the neck isn't required but it's a massive dps upgrade. I would say with the buff to Cyclone AoE in 3.0 that the build should actually end up feeling a lot better, I kinda hated it in Legacy with the massive AoE nerfs. Even with Headhunter giving a massive speed boost Cyclone felt really lovely compared to how it used to be.
