I've been playing a multiplayer CK2 game that's lasted about 300 years (started in 867). We've had 5-9 players and been able to stay at speed 2 nearly all the time with only one session having significant crashed (due to a local file corruption). How many players are you trying that you're stuck on speed 1?

Apparently, too many! Peaked at about fifteen, I think.

The game should start in 1776 and be called Washington, celebrating the cause of freedom rather than a mad conqueror and her empire of butchers.

But Harry Washington was not - quite the opposite in fact. His is the perfect name for luring people into playing a Gramscian study of empire and capital.

Naive estimation, 160 man hours per month. So somewhere around ~10k manhours per person. Though how many people involved is hard to estimate since the teams have only been growing since the release of CK2.

How are the expanded tech trees? I've been put off playing Road to 56 after seeing they added entire tech trees for things like weather-specific uniforms, sniper rifles, and flamethrowers. Seems like a lot of useless bloat.

Danann

The weather uniforms and sniper rifles are stuffed in a tab that you don't really bother with except for when you're running out of non-out-of-timeline tech to research and have already exhausted the tech boosts. The vanilla techs got a lot of expansion so it's possible to dig deep into them and still not have to bother with that tab.

The more broken stuff is probably the experimental tech tab where you can get absurd stuff like a flat +10 ORG to infantry and infantry variants only about two techs in all the while stacking 25% research bonuses from other techs in the tab.

It is a bit, but nothing like Black ICE. I usually play minors so don't even bother with half of it. Most useful stuff from it is the 'experimental' tech thing which is basically just a further way to specialise your army. Like a secondary set of doctrines.

This has bugged me for a while, but I figured it might be a mod issue since I never play Vic2 unmodded. Turns out it's not:

Voter issues add up to 102.23% in the first election. I ran this game just to double-check, but I've had other games where I've gotten up to 110% after a few elections.

Anyway, I know Vic2 is no priority, but it would be cool if this was fixed. I'm too dumb to know how.

Enjoy

Isn't that because pop issues aren't binary (eg these pops are pacifist), it's a pie chart so any number of pops could be 0-100% of any of the issues

Nut to Butt

Maybe? I didn't recall it ever going over 100% previously. Maybe it did, and I just didn't notice. I'm not a computer guy, so maybe I'm out of my depth, but I would think you would want to bind the values to equal 100%. Unless I flubbed my math, your screenshot shows a total of 99.7% issue engagement. 0.3% of that pop not caring about any issue seems more credible to me than total issue engagement exceeding 100%. It may be working as designed, but I looked at the issues code once and still have flashbacks, so I don't know.

Sorry, I already posted this in the Crusader Kings 2 thread, when I should have put it here in the first place, where all the actual developers come, since it's a development-related question:

A question for Darkrenown and the other resident Paradoxians after reading that China dev diary: Would you consider also switching over the invading Aztecs to this offmap system, now that the game infrastructure for it is there? Seems like it would fit perfectly, and this way it could be theoretically possible to have game rules allow for multiple invasions after the first one is defeated. It's also a more elegant solution than having the Aztec Empire exist only as its on-map colonial holdings and event-spawned megastacks.

I hope not, the extra provinces really bogged things down for a while. I'd rather have a tighter game that really focuses in on one area vs an 800 year grab bag set across three continents.

I'm sure we'll see some different mechanics in CK3 (or whatever game Paradox plans to make) but I think the devs have regarded the slowly expanding map as a success. I wish the main area of focus was China and its neighbors, but I can't see that happening anytime soon!
