thats a remnant of wizardry where enemies wouldn't have their full sprites and names appear until you identified them, to prevent you circumventing the game's systems because obviously the ice wolf or whatever is weak to fire. in GRIMOIRE however this is masterfully improved by showing you what it looks like and just hiding the name, because game design is for idiots
