yeah the guy's probably just loaded. if you get a job programming for the government or some corporation in japan and get promoted a couple of times you can make bank because programmers are fairly hard to come by there and a lot of the ones that do exist work in the entertainment or tech sectors, and naturally a lot of programmers are nerdy single guys. that's where 80% of these gacha whales come from.

If you have a job that pays and not a lot of obligations that cost money (Spouse/boyfriend/girlfriend, children, social life), then that's a lot of money to go into your hobby of choice. Especially if you work alllllll day and literally have no time to do anything else when you get home.
