Coinbase isn't supporting BCC. Behind the scenes, is someone taking all the BCC that they "aren't supporting" (from people who trust coinbase to manage their wallets and aren't paying attention or whatever) and keeping it for themselves?

Why on earth would you call it "Bitcoin Cash" and not just "BitCash"

As far as I understand it (I may be wrong about their internal setup), the individual bitcoins inside Coinbase aren't owned by particular people - they have a wallet full of BTC and you have a balance on Coinbase. If you withdraw your BTC you won't get back the same bitcoins.

Which is how all exchanges operate and how they can pull off "getting hacked" because they control the master wallet and everything else is just a number in a database table.

So are you printing out the key? Are you memorizing it? Is it a brainwallet thing protected by the extremely secure passphrase "kuato"? Are you storing the key on a laptop with all the ports epoxy'd? Are you storing the key on a USB stick under a birdbath? I'm just wondering how regular folk keep their money secure in these crazy futuristic days of super-convenient internet money.

Lower than me. I just instructed one of my team to do research into a bitcoin article. I'm not going to write it myself, that'd be an exercise in madness, but a client wants a bitcoin article, and an article they will get.

Bitcoin is dumb, and every news article I read about it makes me hate it more.

Just thought I'd let this thread know, so I can have someone foam at the mouth and explain how I'm actually wrong and it's super smart and I'm just a knuckle dragging GBS troll.

Serious question, since I noticed Microsoft is offering a "blockchain instance" on their Azure cloud service: Is there anything that you can actually use a blockchain for that is somehow better than the alternatives when you don't load it down with pointless busywork?

Also because bitcoin is so thinly traded that the price is trivially manipulable.
