Quests and things to build and it seems to look better. The combat still blows though and the exocraft controls are bad so don't expect it to be a fun shooter now. It's still a wandering game but one with more stuff and better menus and more structure. I haven't had a chance to try any of the new fighter or freighter stuff.

There's just a lot more info now in the menus now, more logs and guides and missions, and there's a quick-access menu for refueling components while playing.

It totally failed to grab me, but I'm pretty sure I got it with eight or nine other dozen things in a steam sale, so that may not be entirely its fault.

I played through the entirety of Enslaved and aside from a vague notion of dragonflies and pyramids, the only memory that remained is that one melee finisher of Monkey (was that his name?) where he vertically smashes a robot in half with the most metal lighting and framing and facial expression ever. The game only really had one good combat finisher, but by god, it was a good one.

Awesome! posted:i couldnt think of other ninja theory games so i looked it up I enjoyed Heavenly Sword, Enslaved, DmC and Hellblade. HS was limited, Enslaved is divisive and DmC is highly divisive. I'm glad they finally hit something that is widely agreed as a good game.

I finished West of Loathing. The writing was easily the best part of the game. I think I'll take a break before I try to get the other endings, the game has some issues I hope the developers fix. -There's no quest log. There's a lot to do in this game and I guess the developers expected you to write it down? Your partner will remind you about random quests, but the game doesn't seem to have any fail states for quests so she kept reminding me of quests I couldn't complete. -Only one save slot. This is big problem in a game where you can just fail quests at random without even realizing what you did wrong. There's was a potion making puzzle I was trying to solve but the faucets jammed and I couldn't do anything about that. I had to switch my character to spell-casting after a Necromancy book I read cut my melee damage by 25 points! -New locations you find via Wandering slows down dramatically by the final section of the game. I kept mashing that Wander button and I kept getting random encounters or items at that point. -You can cheese encounters by throwing dynamite. It deals a flat 20 damage and you can throw as many as you want each turn. Almost every vendor has them and they are pretty cheap as well. -Magic is very OP. I started as a melee-oriented Cowpuncher, but I was casting spells by the end because I had a very powerful spell that attacks everything and deals Spooky damage. Most of the enemies have little or no resistance to Spooky damage. I give the game 7/10 Hot Dougs.

In what seems a never-ending quest to get through my backlog, I've sorted my games by release date and I'm up to almost exactly 4 years ago. I'm a couple of games away from Saints Row IV, so I'm looking forward to that. Just finished Beatbuddy, which was a surprisingly fun rhythm puzzle action adventure game (for want of a better description). Next up are Guacamelee and Infected.

My guacamelee complaint is the absurd plataforming challenge to get the true ending. Still a good game but jeez.

Awesome! posted:i couldnt think of other ninja theory games so i looked it up They tend to have flawed games that still have some decent aspects like combat or storytelling. I think them doing DmC left a sour note for a lot of fans. It was Capcom's fault for giving it to them though in the first place.

Enslaved contains the DLC Pigsy's Perfect 10 which is an extremely good game about a fat weirdo learning to not be a total rear end in a top hat creep and appreciate his friends and learn about companionship other than loving.

Doorknob Slobber posted:i love how dmc made fun of the old devil may cry because the old devil may cry was bad old dmc are excellent action games which basically created the modern action games like Bayonetta, ninja gaiden etc... The combat was insanely deep. DmC the reboot had an ok story but poo poo combat which was the main point of dmc franchise. Even the worst DMC game is better than anything Ninja Theory has put out. Old DMC is a great franchise, I recommend anyone who loves games like Revengeance, Bayonetta, God of War, Nier Automata, Ninja Gaiden to try them out. Sivek posted:Capcom deciding to reboot DMC after making the two best DMC games was dumb and stupid. DMC 4 was so great in terms of combat and gameplay. Its one of the true 720p games that runs always at 60fps on x360. MTframework by Capcom was a great engine. DMC4 was a half complete game in terms of the mission/story though. The 2nd part of the story as Dante is just redoing Nero's missions minus 1 different boss. Still has the best combat of the series and the bloody palace allows for good replay value.
