I am enjoying this more than any of the recent saints row games TBH. I can't understand why it got so much hate on release - from the bad reviews that picked on weird minor poo poo to people insta-refunding calling it bland (this is actually the weirdest to me) call me baffled.

Has anyone found any particularly meaty synergies among team members? I feel like a terrible strategist, because I've found myself sticking with daisy for everything, braddock in case something has a shield, and any of the characters with master hacker as my #3 because some missions require it. It's utilitarian, but I feel like I'm losing tons of utility by just relying on two unkillable DPS machines.
I have been running 3 characters with squad wide passive buffs to supercharge everyone. The last upgrade category in some characeters gives stuff like squad wide % gun dmg, shield boost etc

The funniest part of this is fighting the mini-boss guys on the road. Civilian cars will smash into them disorientating and damaging them. Long as you keep triple jumping to minimise your time on the ground you wont get hit much either.

I noticed that the enemy AI has a very hard time hitting you in the air. Long as you keep triple jumping and charging/releasing arrows in between jumps you can do a lot of dmg while almost never being hit. There is either a gadget or legion tech which make air shots charge your mayhem faster too.

Hardtack is probably my team's anchor (ha ha) person. He's big. He heals really fast. I have a mod that gives him fortify stacks on dashing and you can spam dash up to like 5 stacks or something. His hits are slow, but tend to stagger enemies so it doesn't matter you can take out any one enemy with impunity, and his harpoon teleport them to you so it's really easy to toss it and then go sprint behind a wall or something so that it singles just that dude out.

In Persephone's office there's a computer with all kinds of stats like 'airtime'. I've spent like 1.5 out of 8 hours played in the air apparently.

Got this gifted to me, and I've been enjoying it quite a bit. Literally only played through the first few missions so far, but it's really satisfying getting environmental kills using Hardtack.

Also, whoever said that Rama doesn't deal a lot of damage is a flat-out liar. If you can aim at heads, she just completely destroys people.

Is this cash and crystal system being used for anything particularly interesting, or is it a bog standard open world character development thing?

Pretty bog standard stuff, when it comes to that. Crystals are solely for getting upgrades to how your powers work, cash is only used for building things and buying upgrades that do things like making health drops and cash drops able to be picked up from farther away or increasing how fast an unselected hero's health regenerates.

It can not be overstated how much of a difference that makes. For people with a basic dash like Hardtack or Gat it becomes "Dash as much as you can push the button".

Alas, no basic movement speed upgrades. You can summon cars well before you unlock the car shop or the game reminds you that Pushing Up = Car summon though.

I still need to unlock any alternative sports car that isn't the Torch (RNG unlocked the hatchback and both APCs first). But I expect once more my impossible sports car wish will be "A Hammerhead that doesn't need nitros to go from zero to 30. yes, thirty." Even when missions hand me a ludicrously tricked out Attrazione, it just lacks the heft to feel like I'm living up to the AI's commentary about how they bet they could drive through a wall and or hospital in a sports car.

People are dumb as poo poo, it is absolutely a saints row game it's just not set in the saints row universe because there's no room left in that universe, it is completely mined the gently caress out. I mean, poo poo, gat out of hell was more shale than ore, honestly.

It sucks if it dies because if this was a hit they could have made it an eternal game sort of thing. A new map, all the old agents, some new ones, another bunch of lieutenants and new missions etc, i'd pay for new seasons as expansion packs for sure.

Maybe I am wrong, I am a big noob at the moment with the game. But Fortune have a tech that reads "gains shield with movement". I think that can make she not squishy. Then she have "my drone random stun foes". It can be some sort of kind of crown control character. Plus the game ask you directly to have a anti-shield character and a anti-armour character and a hacker. Fortune is hacker and anti-shields. Fill two roles (admittedly, two easy roles).

Having a lot of fun. I understand the "not a real saints Row game" thing, and I reckon that's why they dropped the Saints Row moniker altogether. If people are already moaning it's not REALLY Saints Row then imagine their gobs if it had SR in the title.

I just really hope they patch how quiet the world is. Ambient chatter, music, the constant screeching wail of a banshee. Anything.

Two missions are completely broken for me and I can't continue in game.

Kingpin's recruitment I get to the rooftop party and nothing happens. From walkthroughs I know legion troops are supposed to show

The Planetarium Hammersmith gets stuck stunned when his shield goes up and I can't interact with the consoles

Restarting the missions or the game won't fix either. This is on PC.

I had the second one, but unfortunately it just... decided to work one time I started the game back up again later. The time it worked, it stopped to give tutorial prompts and I guess the failure was it forgetting to and getting stuck?

3rd street for life
I'm about a dozen hours in. I don't know that I like a ton about the game in the abstract, because the missions are definitely repetitive (particularly lairs), and the story is questionable at best.

It's pretty fun to actually play though. One of the main gameplay complaints I read in a bunch of reviews that I think is particularly valid is the fact that there isn't a lot of feedback when you are getting hit. It's really easy to get a guy killed / almost killed before you even notice that you are taking a bunch of damage.

The shooting is fun, and there is quite a bit of variety in how you construct your team. At the moment I'm running with Fortune, Scheherazade, and Kingpin, but there aren't a ton of agents I don't like. Joule kind of sucks, Hollywood is boring, and Yeti seems awfully week. The other 9 all seem viable (I don't have Gat).

Overall I'm having a ton of fun with it, but I think it's flawed. I'll definitely keep playing it.

Yeti is a beast once you level up his melee vs frozen enemies. He chews through grunts like body's business.

I'll second the lack of feedback. Just did a boss fight there that involved a lot of turrets and they just chewed me to bits without me realising because the actual boss was flying around everywhere and I was looking at him instead. Mostly my fault, I'll admit, but still...
