Yeah I kind of blew it on that ... but I guess we'll see. Might not be so bad as doubleshot ABS? Here's hoping. Was thinking if I were to get Godspeed it'd have to be for my forthcoming Race3 ... but screw trying to match caps to those nonstandard keys. Fortunately the caps it comes with look good.

That Race3 looks pretty sweet. I settled on a pok3r for work though as it needs to be as portable as possible. For home use I'm waiting for an ergodox. Did pull the trigger on Godspeed and ordered GodX with it because, why not.

I really like how all the vendors have pushed Maxkey to fix their SA legends. Another upcoming Maxkey SA keycap is Maxkey Lime and I'm definitely getting that and probably going to build a keyboard with a wooden case for it. That particular one will have text instead of the fat arrows for the arrow keys also.

Think of all the heavily customized gaming machines out there with custom painted cases, windows showing off their colored watercooling loops, and then an off the shelf RGB keyboard with the colors set to match the theme. I'd be willing to bet that the majority of gaming-market MK owners wouldn't even be aware that their caps are removable if the modern ones didn't tend to come with a replacement set for WASD. The custom crowd on the other hand is very aware of third party caps because they basically have to be. If there were more keysets available that were usable on these keyboards I think all it would take is one of the big name pro gamers or stream/youtube stars to get a set and the floodgates would open from people who had no idea that was an option. Backlight compatibility is really the big one to me, the bottom row can be dealt with well enough by mixing and matching. Who really cares about the legends on the Windows keys? Put whatever 1x keys you want in those spots.

Holy hell that's a nice keyboard. Really well done, drat. I like the layout, if you're going to make it from scratch makes sense to make something unique life that. Also, was this was your first time building a keyboard? Did you already know how to wire it up and whatnot, or did you learn as you went along? That's all real impressive.

This was my first keyboard build. I knew the basics of wiring it up but I did some trial and error along the way as I noted in the log. There are other guides to building keyboards that do a good job and normally its pretty straight forward. All diodes in a row are soldered together in a single line, then the columns are put in and everything goes back to a pin. The biggest pain is the firmware, since I have no idea how to parse the keymap that is made for this matrix so I can't easily identify how to change it. I'm working on though.

Pretty much everything is in easy reach with little used things out of the way (my Fn key is far bottom left). while i don't agree with all of the design choices, the execution is pretty good and it's always a treat to see hand wired keebs. i have to ask though, what's up with the f row? the way it's delineated with the darker keys creates a mid group of f6-f9, which is odd to me. good work!

Okay, just got my Corsair K68 in and this thing is loving sweet. Damned heavy too. I'm not going to pull it apart to check, but it feels built like a tank. I think it has a metal backplate.

So I read that Corsair discontinued the K70 RGB with blue switches. Are there choices like the K70 (raised switches/floating keys for easier cleaning, 100% keyboard, and customizable backlight) with blue switches out there? I don't really know the lesser known brands.

Every couple of weeks I get this urge to buy a new keyboard. I've been using a K70 with reds at home for like 2 years, and have to deal with one of the ultracheap Dell pack-ins at the office (or the mushy laptop keys when I'm not at my desk) and it's making me sad. I've got a K-Type coming, but that's at least 3 months out at this point, and I'm still trying to decide if I made a mistake on that one because I ordered it with Kailh Reds. The saving grace, in my mind, is that it's hotswappable, so I can buy a bunch of Cherry Blacks and throw them in instead, if I decide I want more force. This isn't really a recommend me a board post, just kinda a frustration thing. I probably should suck it up and find a 75% or something in that area that meets my desires so I can stop dealing with all the mush at work. Edit: Maybe just a POK3R. I keep eyeing it and the ANNE Pro, but I dislike the lack of a dedicated function row and arrow keys, and I think the lack of an aluminum case on the ANNE would be offputting. As someone who got a Pok3r for work I can only recommend it. I've always hated my laptop keys or cheap standard Dell keyboards and I'm now happily clacking away each day.
