Even if we could get them into combat right now we might not necessarily want to. No one knows we have them, we're not even 100% sure of what they are & how to use them. Worth considering learning more about these things, suckering United Terra into a big fleet battle and then applying surprises liberally

It would be terrible to maybe lose stuff in the meantime but if we can take out enough IC & United Terra forces then we effectively just take Sol, all of it

Don't get too excited. Just because we've mostly been wining against the faction with the smallest fleet doesn't mean we are in any position to take on Earth.

Reminder also that earth could wipe Mars clean in a few minutes if they really wanted to.

Kinda makes me wonder why they haven't already. Like I get "the sorium must flow" but they should be able to just stockpile enough to wipe the board clean of IC in short order.

Because loving up the IC (or whoever holds the fuel harvesters) means there's a significant chance they scuttle them rather than let you have them. Earth's gotta have a strategic sorium reserve that can get them through a short and easy war, definitely, but I doubt it's big enough to keep both their military and civilian economies ticking over for the years it would take to rebuild any destroyed infrastructure.

No. Space is very, very big and our current engines are very, very slow. Even if a fast scout with cargo space somehow was already in Pluto orbit and loaded, it would take longer to get to Triton than we have. The absolute closest Pluto gets to Neptune is 2.8 billion kilometers, according to a quick Google search. At 4000 km/s, that still takes 700,000 seconds, which is 8 days and some change. I'm pretty sure we're less than a week out from action at this point. Pluto can be as far from Neptune as 11.77 billion kilometers, which is actually completely out of the range of any of our military ships AFAIK. It isn't that far in the LP, but I included that as a reference.

From the first post the relative positions of the planets. The inner system has moved about a fair bit in the few months of game time but the outer much less relatively.

Third is at about half its paper strength at the moment due to ships being pulled to replace losses suffered over Patroclus. That BB squadron is also one of only five such units in the Terrain fleet so represents a huge amount of firepower and force commitment even for Earth.

Fleet tenders, sometimes also referred to as FSV's. Term goes back to 20th century wet navies on Earth when ships burned hydrocarbons instead of sorium. I think AO originally stood for Auxiliary Oiler and has just stuck around to denote the ship that carries the extra fuel and ammo?

DD is code for destroyer - typically a small and fast ship. G is for guided, which means it uses guided munitions aka missiles.

30 Apri, 0416hrs

The first round of combat on Titan goes well. Minor losses for the Marines and moderate losses to two militia units for damage to an IC Batallion.

30 April, 0736hrs

The second goes far worse as the IC shifts focus to the Marines and the 27th suffers nearly 50% casualties. Another 6 hours until the Martian Brigade is landed and ready to join the fight.

Times were hard for third fleet. Stationed to protect Tempel 1 and the Martian southern flank she operated extremely close to Jupiter and the IC never let them forget it running a constant series of raids. So far only one destroyer had been lost to those raids and in return the fighters had managed to get the jump on a pair of Marissa Mayers. One by one her ships were recalled insystem to protect Mars or reinforce the shattered fourth fleet and Kommdant-General Klaus88's complaints about the splitting of his command fell on deaf ears.

After two months on edge when the call came to move out it was almost a relief, a feeling quickly replaced by dread when the Creeper reported the size of the hostile fleet heading towards Saturn.

30 April, 0753hrs

Third fleet turns to engage the main force giving up hope of intercepting the enemy fast detatchment. Fighters are reserved for their own protection as to send them to intercept the fast detachment would leave 3rd dangerously exposed. Titan is on their own for now.

30 April, 0758hrs

In response the enemy force splits with the carriers continuing towards Saturn while the other ships head for 3rd fleet at 3k kps.

30 April, 0930hrs

Third launches their own fighters and slows to give them time to pull ahead. An hour and a half later they detect EM emissions from a fighter-scout pacing the enemy fleet, likely part of a picket line.

Reports are coming in from Titan, the IC launched a massive attack on the Free State but their attack was foiled by the defending Militia! Four batallions take massive casualties and the IC retreats to lick its wounds.

3.5 hours until the Martian brigade is landed.

30 April, 1105hrs

As the fleets close to 70m km a pair of Koshkin's are detected in the enemy fleet. Another active sensor of a fighter-scout is spotted as well.

3rd fleets fighters turn on their actives to get a clearer view and bam, forty enemy missile fighters are spotted incoming.

:siren:I'll be running the battle live in discord. Pop on over, right now you need to decide whether to engage fighter v fighter or try break through to the enemy capital ships and give targeting priority for when the fleets begin throwing missiles at each other.
