A Song of Blood and Fire They said all the dragons had perished due to the Dance of Dragons and it’s aftermath, evidently they were wrong. Daeron Targaryen, the Young Dragon, has done something Aegon and his sister wives could not do with dragons. He has conquered Dorne. Sunspear has fallen, House Martell and all of the other major houses of Dorne have bent the knee, and the Seven Kingdoms have finally been united under one king and one rule over them. A shame that your house was on the losing side of this war. House Tamas, lords among the Stoneway aka the Boneway, are descendants of the spear wife Rudaba Tamas of the warrior queen Nymeria, having sailed with her from Rhynor after the Valrians won the Second Spice War. They’ve held their lands for millennia, being bequeathed them as a reward for victories among the Red Mountains and personally vanquishing the entire line of lords who held it before them. For generations they stood as equals to the Yronwoods and Fowlers, among the most important of the lords who defended the peoples and lands of Dorne from their northern neighbors. That is until your family were some of the worst hit of the Dornish noble houses during Daeron’s conquest of Dorne. The heads of the house done in by the blade, most of your army crushed, and much of your estate and lands divided among the Targaryen’s favorite supporters. With your main castle and much of your lands stripped from you, your house is now centered on Castle Tabar, slap down in the middle of the Boneway. Formerly a secondary base designed to further disrupt and stall invaders until they reached Castle Yronwood or other vital routes to the Dornish mainland and defend your house’s iron mines and interests, it is now were you are charged to help track down and defeat remaining Dornish lords and hosts who have refused to bend the knee and are to meet a large iron quota if you are to keep what you have been left with and remain in House Tagaryen’s good graces. Still you can’t help but notice much if not most of grumbling and whispering of your fellow Dornish lords hasn’t subsided whatsoever, and that it has in fact often turned to actual plotting. How many of the subservient pets of the Young Dragon, are actually funneling gold and weapons to these dissident lords? How many Dornishmen have wished the king well, while smuggling their bastard children and men to pirates and mercenaries working on the Stepstones? The question is simple really, where do your loyalties truly lie. With your liege lords with whom you’ve broken bled, shed blood, and even share blood with; House Martell, with the concept and culture of Dorne itself, with the fortunes and future of your House, or with the safety of your people and of that of Dorne? Even a thousand different answers still actually lay within such a choice, depending on how you view best to serve that goal and understand that idea to be. You are not alone in asking that question either, it is on the minds of those who live in the occupied state of Dorne. This war has been lost, but there’s always another around the corner. A Few Side Notes on Setting and Character Creation: Dornish Custom is trickier and different the standard houses of Dorne. Many discriminated groups, such as women and bastards have greater personal freedom than those to the north of them, if they’re noble that is. The noble daughters and women of Dorne have equal rights on inheritance and governance as the men, this is even reflected in the rules. What isn’t reflected in the rules is that Dorne has a flaunted and revered tradition of warrior women. While women of noble blood mostly side with and fully honor their traditional Rhynor roots, it’s far from unheard of some Dornish Ladies wish to honor Andal customs of the warrior and serve and take roles knights. Female characters can be knighted and even buy the anointed trait, even the northern invaders will (often literally) hold their noses and acknowledge and recognize Dornish women knights. Bastards are normally on the bottom of the inheritance order in a family, unless otherwise stated in a will or by decree of the Dornish lady or lord in question, but at least they’re in the inheritance at all. Likewise there is little social stigma in being a natural born child, and are allowed to practice any trade or belief without organized and systemic prejudice. This attitude is not shared by the Seven Kingdoms invaders however. The -1d penalty does not apply to your Dornishmen Character and House Creation To save time and to create an actual conflict that was interesting, I pre made a house. It’s mostly by the actual rules in the book, but why let (even great) rules stand in the way of fun. Each player will still allocate and spend “leftover” points on category, after Character Creation they will explain how their character saved this resource they choose or the history of it if they spent it. Character Creation is mostly normal outside of what’s stated the Side Notes and that whoever is the first born child gets Head of the House instead of Heir. Also if you don’t have the book, I can make your character for you, just give me the jist of what you want. Likewise you can use Chronicle of Sorcery in Character Creation and I will be using Out of Strife, Prosperity for expanded House rules and will list you options and what they do from it if you don’t have it. Here's a Discord for questions, rolls if we go that route, and character creation NutritiousSnack fucked around with this message at 23:48 on Aug 29, 2017 |

Third son of lord Tamas' uncle's youngest daughter, he was never expected to become involved in the main family politics, instead working to improve the family fortunes abroad and closer to home. Seban owes everything to house Tamas. Happiness, family, wealth, all have come from his belonging to this great and noble house. He considers his appointment to the position of steward a great honour, despite the dark circumstances surrounding it. House Tamas' fortunes shall be restored. Before the war, Seban was happily married to Yamina, originally a member of the banner house Tamam. That has soured with the war, their children being taken as wards by the Targaryan's robber lords. Yamina blames Seban for this, his new position in the family placing their children in danger. Seban places this blame solely at the feet of Lord Gawn Wyldflower, and remains worried that any appearance of hostility by the family, or failure to provide the promised quotas will lead to the children's deaths. Yamina left house Tamam 20 years ago, keeping in contact until the war. It has been 9 years since she last seen Zehiya. A loyal supporter of house Tamas, Seban recognises Waylar as true heir as per the original proclamation by Lord Tamas. Words are important, and such things cannot be unsaid. Young Stefan may be family, but this untested child is not the heir, no matter what the Targaryans laws decree. He is much warmer towards Mykel and Deria; as two who have escaped captivity at enemy hands they represent to him a hope for his own children's future. Zehiya's arrival signals an opportunity to try and get back into Yamina's good graces and in some way make up for the harm he has caused, but whether this proves wise or not remains to be seen. Jaeros caught the eye of Maerros Dynel, a bravos around 10, and shortly thereafter began his training as a waterdancer. By 13, Maerros had deemed Jaeros sufficiently skilled that he could wear a sword around town. With all the arrogance of a young teen, and against his Vellora's wishes, Jaeros signed on as a deckhand with the Blue Lily, a ship headed to Pentosh. Unfortunately, the Blue Lily was captured by Mereenese slavers a days travel from Pentosh. Jaeros was lucky, he was purchased by Gaznil mo Kukne, destined to eventually end up in the Mereen fightng pits. Fortunately for Jaeros, Gaznil put in at Pentosh before heading to Mereen. As Jaeros was unknown in Pentosh, Gaznil arranged a private fight for a Magister, and his Westeros guest. Jaeros was pitted against a wounded crew meber of the Blue Lily on the Magister's horse. Jaeros killed the horse, not his wounded crewmate. Gaznil was enraged at having to pay for the horse. Fortunately, Waylar Sand liked what he saw of Jaeros, and paid Gaznil for Jaeros before the whipping had started. Thankful for his freedom, Jaeros found himself in Pentos, as planned but without the wealth he expected to have. Faced with the choice of traveling to the barbaric lands of Westeros, or facing his angry parents, Jaeros arranged for word to be sent back to Lazaro and Vellora that he was alive and well, and working for a house in Dorne. Zehiya Tamam Most of House Tamas' bannermen were stripped at the culmination of the recent war. One of the few they were allowed to "keep" was the remains of House Tamam, and it's not hard to see why. Vulture's Nest and the region surrounding it has never been an area easily governed, which is why two of the numerous "Vulture Kings" of Dorne have made it their base of operations. When the war came Babak Tamam, then only the lord of the lands around the city, and his family fought the invaders in the usual manner of his house, by abandoning his hall with his army and living off the land. Which in this case meant pillaging and raiding the poor saps living in the city bordering the wasteland he ruled. While the brutal guerilla war succeeded in keeping the enemy forces from gaining a foothold, it turned the people against him. A conspiracy of burghers and town officials lured him into a trap with the promise of material aid in the war effort, and killing him and every member of Tamam except for the youngest daughter, Zehiya. The young girl was released on the condition that she bring her families army of bandits to heel and surrender to the invading forces. Instead she returned and slaughtered every wealthy man in town, seizing their assets, and giving their wives and daughters over to her soldiers. Next she rounded up all of the town officials and caste them into the wastes to die of thirst and exposure. She declared the city a part of her fiefdom by right of conquest, a defacto claim made dejure by the terms of the peace that came years later. The crown felt that if the bandits wanted to keep their lawless hellhole, they were welcome to it. Any attempt to take it would just be wasted crown funds and soldiers. In the time since the peace, Zehiya has risen to the challenge of ruling her city. Using the looted funds of the wealthy, she has invested in a number of building projects, namely the start of a new hold for her House (ie her and her favorite murderous bandit chiefs) and what is now the largest brothel in Dorne (staffed with the surviving daughters of the burghers). The remaining funds have gone towards hiring out the largest criminal syndicate to help keep the peace and bringing in Braavosi sellswords to act as the local magistrates. Her funds now nearly tapped out, and barely clinging to power in her city of thieves, whores, and bandits Zehiya looks outwards for potential aid. Her parent House and liege lord, Tamas, is in dire straights. The current head of the family, Steffon, is young, unmarried, and by all accounts easily manipulated. A match made in heaven. Bearing a gift of one thousand gold dragons, Zehiya sets out for Castle Tabar with 10 of her best men. pre:Name: Zehiya Tamam Age: 18 Status: 3 Role: I have no idea anymore Background: Goal: Justice Motivation: Madness Virtue: Wise Vice: Foolish Abilities: Agility 2 Animal Handling 4 Athletics 2 Awareness 2 Cunning 2 Deception 2 Endurance 2 Fighting 2 Healing 1 Knowledge (Streetwise 2) 4 Language Common 3 Marksmanship 3 (Bows) Persuasion 5 (Convince, Intimidate) Status (Stewardship) 3 Stealth 4 Survival 3 Thievery 2 Warfare 2 Will 2 Qualities: Sponsor Landed Cadre (GIMME TEN GOOD MEN) Destiny Points: 2 Intrigue Defense: Composure: Combat Defense: Health: Armour Rating: Damage: Wealth: 14 GD Equipment: Sand Steed: 1200ss Bow, Double-curved: 500ss Tourney Lance: 40 Padded Armor: 200 Spear: 50 Stiletto: 30 Ammunitionx2: 20 Traveler's Garb: 3 Tent, Pavilion: 30 Tent, Soldiers: 5 Scents: 1 Sachet: 1 Flask: 2 Flint And Steel: 2cp Iron Stakesx11: 44cp Ropex11: 110cp Torch: 1 cp Whetstone: 3cp Waterskin: 8 cp Far Eyes: 300 Remaining: 555 SS pre:House Tamam of Vulture's Nest Defense: 25 -Hall (Sandbeggar Hall): 20 Influence: 22 Lands: 35 -Domain: Plain, Large Town (Vulture's Nest): 35 Law: 8 (18) Population: 22 Power: 35 -Unit: Elite Criminal Bodyguards: 14 (Fighting 4, Stealth 5, Animal Handling 4) -Unit: Elite Guerrillas: 9 (Stealth 5, Marksmanship 4, Animal Handling 4) -Unit: Elite Guerrillas: 9 (Stealth 5, Marksmanship 4, Animal Handling 4) Wealth: 29 Holding: Standard of Living (poor): -5 Holding: Criminal Syndicate: 10 Holding: Brothel (Pleasure House): 10 Holding: Magistrate: 5 Holding: Gardens: 4 Bonuses: Fortunes: -4 (from low law) Resource Gain Bonus: Influence +1, Wealth +2 Resource Loss Mitigation: Influence+1, Law +1, Wealth +1 (+2 At a cost of law) History: Scandal Madness (Increases to Influence, Lands, and Defense. Backstory: Waylar was the first-born son of Lord Tamas, borne of a passionate affair with a courtier in his teenage years. Though a bastard, Waylar was named heir to House Tamas ahead of [epicurius' PC] due to his age, and as is Dornish custom he was raised as a member of the court, with all the rights and privileges that come with. When the Targaryens attacked, Waylar, a young man at the time, led many a successful battle, earning quite the reputation throughout Dorne and the Southern Kingdoms as a masterful fighter with a spear and competent leader and commander. He was much loved by the people, however when Sunspear fell to the Dragon, Lord Tamas felt it prudent to follow the Andal customs and name [epicurius' PC] as heir. To save face for the House and also spare his bastard son the embarrassment, Lord Tamas further sent Waylar across the Narrow Sea, to Braavos, where he could secure the family's assets with the Iron Bank and lay low for awhile while things smoothed over. The transition did not go smoothly, however. During one of the final battles against the Targaryens, specifically their Baratheon vassals, Gidden Dayne, Waylar's long-time friend and fellow heir to his house, surrendered on the field before the battle even began, to spare his smaller force from decimation. Waylar called Gidden a coward in front of his men, and the two men broke their friendship, resulting in a general disarray on the field which led to their rout by the Baratheon forces, with the majority of Dornishmen blaming the pivotal loss on Gidden Dayne's cowardice. Out of fear for reprisal from the Daynes while abroad, Waylar hired Thick as a bodyguard to accompany him in Braavos, as well as purchasing Jaeros as a slave and freeing him when the (then boy) tried to steal his horse. Now that the politics of Dorne have settled, and having secured an impressive line of credit backed by substantial wealth in the Iron Bank, Waylar has returned home to Castle Tabar, dismayed at the former shadow of a House he sees before him... I've been doing some thinking and came up with the following: - A first cousin of the current Lord Tamas, her father the former lord's brother (whether he's still alive and whether he's got his own fabrications against his brother's children I'll leave up to the narrator) - Barely adult age, lived through the Conquest of Dorne, the humiliation of her house and the loss of wealth and status that went with it. Having lived carefree and a little bit spoilt so far, it stung quite a bit. - Desires to see the lands taken away from House Tamas to be given (or taken) back. Ultimately, she desires to gain a piece of that for herself, to have a good income of her own and being a Lady that may decide on her marriage all on her own. - A competent persuader and seducer with a side of sneaky thief and schemer

Deria Tamas The only child of the late Lord Tamas's brother, Deria was the apple of her parents' eye. Her frail health that persists to this day only made them care for her even more. Deria grew up with almost any toy or dress she desired. She also had lots of friends among the household, owing both to her toys and her gregarious and playful nature she had developed from a young age. Her mother would often take her to trips to meet and make friends with the children of neighboring lords. At age 7 she barely survived a mysterious fever thanks to the care of Maester X. As she grew into adolescence, Daria maintained her lifestyle and network of friends both male and female. Starting to grow into a woman, she also noticed what effect she has on boys and some girls and they have on her. And she learned to use that to her advantage. At age 14, she was abducted by men in service of Lord Rhyggel, a very minor bannerman, who sought to force her into a marriage with his eldest son and increase his family's station by tying his to his liege lord's. However, the crafty Daria managed to escape by deceiving her guards and sneaking out of Rhyggel's small fort. As she fled, she ran right into a party of her father's men coming to rescue her, just before Rhyggel's men caught up to her. Rhyggel was duly punished. Even though her abduction went almost as painless as can be, Deria's soul remains scarred by it. While she remained gregarious, playful and increasingly flirtatious, a fear of being betrayed or becoming powerless remains. She is determined to remain in control of her life and has rejected any of her parents' plan to marry her. During the Conquest of Dorne, she remained at home and witness the defeat and demotion of her house firsthand. Now her previous lifestyle was gone with the family's fortune vastly diminished and many former friends were now - in her mind - enemies as they belonged to the houses that benefitted from the fall of her own house. Outwards, however, she keeps up appearances and tries to hold up some of the old friendships, only because she plans to exploit them at some point. Deria is driven by the desire to get back into the comfortably luxurious lifestyle she was used to and would prefer if she did not depend on her parents or her lordly cousin for it. Her best chance, she thinks, is helping the family to regain their lost lands and holdings and getting a piece of them for herself in the process. To this end she will be loyal to the family, even though her true loyalty is to herself. Although her beauty attracts courtiers and her family would like to marry her off to establish new diplomatic ties, she is fiercely opposed to the idea; she wants to decide who she marries and wants at least two out of wealth, a very useful alliance for her house and love. Outwards, Deria remains gregarious and her independent streak has strengthened a lot since the Conquest. She is fiercely loyal to House Tamas as long as it doesn't involve the question of her marriage and has some ideas of her own about how to restore the house to greatness. She has realized that she possesses the ability to manipulate people and is aware that this talent can help her further her goals. She is still learning how to best use her cunning and charms, but is surveying the political landscape to find the right point to target with her first schemes already. pre:Name: Deria Tamas Age: 21 (Adult) Role: Schemer/Rogue Background: Ambitious cousin of Lord Steffon Goal: Wealth Motivation: Greed, Security Virtue: Magnanimous Vice: Ambitious/grasping Abilities: Awareness 3 (-10) - Empathy 1B Cunning 3 (-10) - Logic 1B Deception 3 (-10) Knowledge 3 (-10) Language 4 (-40) - Common Persuasion 5 (-70) - Charm 1B, Incite 1B, Seduce 1B Status 4 (-40) - Reputation 1B Stealth 3 (-10) - Sneak 1B Thievery 2 (0) - Pick Locks 1B Will 3 (-10) All others 2 (0) Benefits: Charismatic (Charm): Whenever you test Persuasion to use that specialty, add +2 to your test result. We made some random banners and tried a bunch of words: The Words are what we care about, the actual banner design is totally flexible... we were just throwing stuff around.

Gonna vote "let the mountains run red" for words. Not sure for banner itself

I think this has been chosen as the banner most people like. Words still up in the air.
