This whole selling names bullshit, after the fit they threw about ED doing it, while managing to make it even more scummy, is just laughable.

Wait, so within the span of a few sentences this chucklehead goes from arguing that nothing anyone has seen in Star Citizen is final, everything is likely to change more than a few times, and probably change significantly...to arguing that everything CIG has showed about what's coming next for Star Citizen has been delivered as described, without fail.

Is this some kind of Necker cube phenomenon that only devoted backers can experience? Do they get mental whiplash from processing "Everything is subject to change, they do it all the time!" and "They've always given us exactly what they showed us!" simultaneously, or do they have some kind of vestigial hindbrain to handle one of those concepts while their brainstem chews on the other?

Actually, the fanboyos drive plenty of the CIG narrative. Everytime CIG fucks up (so, like once a week) they wait a bit for the fans to concoct the poo poo that they'll gladly drink once it is poured out from an official rear end in a top hat. Last time this was really, really loving apparent is when they created the whole "forex expert traders" explanation for the loan CIG-UK took, which was exactly the explanation given back to then.

Same for delay explanations, excuses for bad PR, etc.

I'm not convinced that these things are concoctions of backers first, then 'officialised' by CIG later.

I think they try them out first and the only people on there they give a poo poo about convincing are the whales - because those guys will gladly tell everyone with lesser money involved to go gently caress themselves.

Yeah, it could be either way. In any case, it is not like their super-stupid excuses really fool anybody who is not willing to be fooled at this stage of the game.

e: btw, some excuses the fans have adopted lately.

-The shields on the Idrisses were not up, that's why they could be destroyed fast.
-The in-atmosphere flight model is actually perfect, it's just that the thrusters are too strong.

Probably enough to buy like some new rims for your mako, poo poo is expensive in the 'verse. The actual reward was was 100,000 credits. lol. Not even enough for a full set of torpedos (although at 1000 UEC = 1 dollars that was 100 dollars "worth").

Mapping facial animations to voice was a feature CR wanted years ago. They ran a poll on their old forum asking if backers would have a problem installing "custom sound drivers"

So they were trying to achieve this internally using ASIO and attempting to animate based on audio recognition. Needless to say it was a complete waste of time and money.

Once again they find a third party solution for something they were unable to do in house.

Shortly after that poll they showed a demo of their new audio system on ATV. They recorded lots of audio of clothing rustling, dog tags jingling, ammo packs clicky clacking - every limb on the model had a wav assigned to its animation.

It was a disaster. They used a stereo mic to record the foley, and because they had so many individual wavs playing when the commando ran down the corridor they had to pan some of them hard left and hard right - already a big no-no for the player character - on top of them already being in stereo.

Even now, with a third party library and sdk handling the positional voice in their 3.0 presentation - the left & right audio channels are the wrong way round.

Character walks to the left, her voice moves off to the right.

So that nice Behringer powered desk that some of you spotted? Yeah, they had the line out hooked up the wrong way round for the stream. Didn't even test their channels. And the big new feature was positional audio. I mean come on.

I'm waiting for CIG to show me one single thing that even reaches amateur level, just one thing.

Any agent worth their salt would put Pay or Play terms into any CIG extensions. And after the Costner saga the term Pay or Play sends Roberts into the fetal position.

It doesn't really matter. It's not like they have any idea of how much are ships gonna cost in credits or how much should a mission reward you. 100k is a nice round number that they chose just because.

If somehow they enforced the 1000 UEC = 1 dollar exchange rate then this is a 30 minute mission that can be done by a pair of farmers for 100 dollars worth of credit, which is ludicrous.

I think Star Citizen has done a great service to the world. In university theres this great caee study you learn on the Therac 25 which was a radiology machine that killed a few folk by cooking them from the inside out. Its a case study in the importance of software engineering and managing risk. We now have an amazing case study for project scoping. We're going to train better project managers and software engineers based on the failure of Star Citizen and no one had to die.

It looks like a suppository.

It's a nice model for up-close bullshots but will be boring and near-featureless in game. It's pretty much the apex of Star Citizen's crap art design -- it's not consistent with any real style or theme, has nothing that shows scale at a glance, and is full of elaborate detail that will be erased as soon as you drop a single LOD level. It's terrible.

Or at least it's terrible at being an art asset for a video game. As a thing to make marketing screenshots out of and put in a hangar for culsists to looks at while rubbing themselves through their pants, it's great.
